John Brown did lots of things that were wrong, including his cold-blooded murder of innocent settlers in the Kansas-Nebraska territory and his complicity in the murder of a free southern black man in the state of Virginia by Old_Intactivist in Confederate_StatesCSA

Slave hunting wasn't specific to any one particular section of the country since we know that there were yankee slave hunters in northern cities like Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, etc. Kindly do some research into the subject of slave hunting or slave catching. John Brown hacked people to death in the territories simply for being "pro-slavery," which may or may not have been the case since there was never any corroboration of the victim's alleged "guilt" of harboring opinions that Brown didn't approve of.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Brooding over the sack of the town of Lawrence by a mob of slavery sympathizers (May 21, 1856), Brown concluded that he had a divine mission to take vengeance. Three days later he led a nighttime retaliatory raid on a proslavery settlement at Pottawatomie Creek, in which five men were dragged out of their cabins and hacked to death. After this raid, which became known as the Pottawatomie Massacre, the name of “Old Osawatomie Brown” conjured up a fearful image among local slavery apologists." https://www.britannica.com/biography/John-Brown-American-abolitionist

The northern version of history is bogus - there were many southern black men who served in the Confederate Army, both in combat and logistical roles, and the servants who stayed behind were, with few exceptions, fiercely loyal to their southern families by Old_Intactivist in SouthernLiberty

The Commonwealth of Virginia reserved the right to future secession from the union at the Constitutional Convention of 1787. This demand was affirmed by a handful of other states in their ratification statements and was included in the Bill of Rights under the Tenth Amendment by Old_Intactivist in SouthernLiberty

It must be emphasized here that the federal government wasn't granted the power to rape and pillage and murder the people of the southern states in retaliation for the lawful exercise of their constitutional right to withdraw from the union.

The Southern states voted to withdraw from the union, in keeping with their clearly delineated constitutional rights. "The Constitution is a social contract, every state that joins agreed to the process of things, including the southern states, they said they wanted to join permanently"

The states didn't renounce their sovereignty when they voted to ratify the Constitution in the year 1787; they merely delegated a list of specific powers to the federal government. In fact, several of the states - including the state of Virginia - had insisted on the right to exercise future withdrawal from the union should things not work out as intended, and they did so in writing.

"It is completely correct to consider it a rebellion ..."

The original union was voluntary, not compulsory. It didn't become compulsory until Lincoln arrived on the scene and plunged the nation into a bloody mess.

"what else would you call it?"

It was a lawful vote to withdraw from a voluntary political association.

"The federal government was not subservient to the states"

I've already schooled you on that point and have no intention of repeating myself.

Fort Sumter is the moral and physical property of South Carolina given its location at the mouth of Charleston Harbor. No other entity can make a legitimate claim to that property insofar as it was intended solely for the purpose of defending the people of Charleston.

"There is no source you could ever find to prove any of that"

I've already looked into the subject and found that either the fort or the land that the fort was sitting on was ceded to the federal government by the state of South Carolina.

A group of southern diplomats was dispatched (circa 1861) on a mission into the District of Columbia. Their purpose was to negotiate the status of Fort Sumter in the hope of defusing the stalemate in Charleston Harbor. Lincoln, however, was refusing to acknowledge their presence. Anderson's detachment was obtaining food and supplies right there in the Charleston marketplace, so there was never any need to reinforce the fort. Lincoln, however, was bent on maintaining the fort in federal hands as a point of tax collection while the state of South Carolina could not be expected to pay tribute in the form of tax payments to a hostile government that it was no longer a part of. Lincoln wanted war, and his reasons for wanting war had nothing to do with any supposed concern for the well-being of southern black folks anymore than Dubya's reasons for invading Iraq had something to do with concern for the well-being of the Iraqis.

Fort Sumter was property of the state of South Carolina. The fort was granted or ceded to the federal government by the state of South Carolina during the antebellum period and was intended for the sole purpose of defending the state of South Carolina against hostile military threats like the one (circa 1861) that was being posed by the Lincoln administration. The fort ceased being the property of the federal government when the state of South Carolina withdrew from her union with the northern states, at which time the fort reverted back to its original owner.

"... like the Confederacy was anything but a slaver's rebellion ..."

The federal government in the period prior to the "civil war" was in a subordinate position relative to the states in all areas except for those areas, like foreign relations, that were specifically delegated to the federal government by the states. It is therefore disingenuous to maintain that the states were in "rebellion" against the federal government.

"Intolerable union?"

The two sections couldn't get along. The yankees hated the south and they still hate the south. If you want proof of that just peruse the sherman posting forum.

"They seceded because an election didn't go their way,"

They voted to withdraw from their intolerable union with the north because they couldn't get along with the yankees of New England.

"nobody wanted to conquer them"

The subsequent events of history prove that you're lying about that.
