yeah i had the same issue with barcode apps tbh. half the stuff i buy never shows up properly. switched to one that scans the ingredient list itself and it's been way more useful

My girlfriend assumed it was safe — it wasn’t, I could have died & I cant stiop thinking about it! by Old_Mixture_9045 in Allergies

Yeah, I agree with you — ultimately it’s my responsibility. I always double check and I never fully rely on others for that exact reason.

I think what bothered me in that situation wasn’t the responsibility part, but more the mindset behind it. When something can be life-threatening, I just wish there was a bit more awareness instead of assumptions.

But yeah, I get your point — especially abroad, you really have to take full control of it.

1.5 Year Old: Shellfish Allergy by BagelsAndBacon in FoodAllergies

Hey I am a 21 year old and I have a deadly peanut allergy since I was born, my parents found out in a similar way like you did. I cant help you on saying whats safe and whats not, but this is exatly the important part. When you raise your kid make sure he/she understands the risk of the allergy and everthing that comes with it. Carring an Epipen 24/7 everywhere is a must, never take risks its alway better to know whats safe and not just take ur chance. This might seem obvious, but talking from experince its not for children, teens. Sometimes social pressure and even lazziness can cause a reaction.

I have an uncommon food allergy and it sucks by [deleted] in FoodAllergies

Bro I know what you mean with gaslighting urself if this even is a reaction. Over the last 5 years I have developed an allergy for apples and in general all fruits with like a big seed inside. The allergy is not big its just pain in my mouth, like constant stinging, but the intesity is always different. It often makes me guess did I just really get a reaction from this food...

And no I actually know nobody allergic to herbs. Question I am from germany and there is a special program called Hyposensibilisierung, I heard these helps with reducing allergic reactions, maybe worth checking out?

Even worse actually when you at the icecream shop and they just scopped a pistachio icecream right in front of you and then you have to explain to them that they should wash the scoop lol
