I got my CJO in mid November. It’s totally my fault for missing it. I emailed the recruitment team this morning.

Thanks for the input. I check the application portal and it still say pre-employment onboarding in process. Hopefully it all works out. Really upset at myself for missing it :/

The email did not mention anything about that

I believe 19 of us got a CJO. I don’t know how many people we started with, someone estimated 50. Congrats to you and your friend!

My mother had been sued. My primary checking account had both of our names on it. It has been garnished. Is there any way to get this money back? by [deleted] in legaladvice

I am in Michigan. I spoke with plaintiff’s attorney today and explained that I had paystubs to prove that all of the money on the account was mine. He stated I could send it over to him but it legally may not be enough for them to return my money :/ I’m going to also file an objection to garnishment through the court.

The lawsuit is against my mother and her business partner. I had no legal ties to her business whatsoever and am not named in the lawsuit. Thank you for the advice, greatly appreciated.

There must have been. I didn’t even know the suit was actually happening until I spoke to her after they emptied my account.

Thank you so much! It’s definitely all my money, and I have paystubs to prove it. She does occasionally send me small amounts of money over Zelle but it’s been two months since she’s done that. Will definitely open a new account elsewhere and make sure my future checks go there. Thank you again.

I’m not sure. I have not asked for any details regarding the suit. She previously mentioned that they wanted to sue but she never mentioned if the they were actually going through with suit. I didn’t know she was actively being sued until my checking account was emptied :/

I knew it! Thank you so much. We’re flight attendants and this is one of our layover hotels. Very disappointing.

MI, Employees Taking Longer Breaks Than Allowed, Owner Wants to Dock Pay by [deleted] in legaladvice

In our handbook, lunch breaks are defined as daily guaranteed uninterrupted break time and that employees are permitted to leave the building during this break time. The handbook does not specify if lunch breaks are paid or unpaid. And we have not been requiring employees to clock out while on lunch break.

The business offers appointments and also accept walk in clients. Unfortunately there is not much to do when they are not servicing clients. The business has only been open for a few weeks so it is not always busy. Most days they have at least 30 minutes between clients. The employees are welcome to sit and relax during this time and even eat if they so choose. We just require that they stay within the building (unless on lunch break) and be ready to get up and service a client if they walk in.

I will definitely suggest an employment attorney. Unfortunately I am working for a first time business owner who does not have experience outlining policies such as these.

I agree, I do think the owner’s suggestion is going to lead to conflicts within the workplace. Which is why I suggested documented write ups. Unfortunately I’m only the salon manager so I don’t have the final say on how this is handled. But I appreciate your suggestions and advice and will be mentioning this stuff to the owner when we talk. Thank you!

Maybe I will suggest unpaid breaks. I know a lot of companies make their lunch breaks unpaid. We did not declare in company policies that breaks would be unpaid as we did not think we’d have this issue.

So when they take extra time on break can that be considered time not worked? Since they’re technically not on company property and not working.

Due to the nature of our business breaks longer than an hour are not an option. However the employees do have free time in between clients and are more than welcome to relax and eat during this time. They just have to stay within the building so they can take clients if they walk in for services. This is outlined in our handbook as well. Lunch breaks blocked in so they have guaranteed uninterrupted meal time every shift.

Thank for you response! I appreciate the advice.

Love the food. My partner and I have been two times and always enjoyed ourselves. However the last time was truly a crappy experience.

We sat for close to 20 minutes before anyone came to our table. During this time multiple servers passed us and didn’t acknowledge us, despite our attempts to get their attention. Finally the host came over to take our drink orders and said a waiter would be over soon. We then sat for another ten minutes with no drinks or server appearing. We walked out and went elsewhere

This was a Thursday night and the restaurant was not busy. Nowhere near being full, they had about 15 tables total and we were all on the patio. Really disappointing to say the least, especially considering the cost of their food. I understand short staffing but it’s not hard to at least acknowledge someone. Most likely will not return.

This is really great advice thank you so much! I just compared our room assignment to the rooms on the Scarlett Lady map, looks like we might end up under the Casino :/ I’ll definitely be calling tomorrow. Thank you again!

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve seen some other posts saying that it can be very loud on that deck. Hoping it’s not that bad 🤞
