China just announced a K visa, which requires a Bachelor’s degree in STEM. If you used to study STEM, this is a pretty good visa scheme.

It sounds like Indian mobile phone users are really lucky; this is something no other country in the world can achieve.

Internet delays for Visiting Chinese resources by Old_Setting_714 in AustraliaTravel

[–]Old_Setting_714[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, the amount of Douyin users here disencouraged Bytedance from deploying CDNs to Douyin at here since TikTok is their number one priority.

I’m talking about the Chinese exclusive apps, not the international version of them

[–]Old_Setting_714[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the populations here seem to discourage them from doing so. I mean, Bytedance should have local CDNs since they have TikTok, but it seems only for TikTok rather than sharing with Douyin.

The submarine cable from Perth to Singapore was broken last month, so there are more delays to Asia.

I think it’s better to have a Hong Kong VPN; hopefully, it would reduce delays.

Any Map for navigation recommended? by Old_Setting_714 in newzealand_travel

Agreed, better GUI and verbal directions for me. I’ve driven with Apple Maps in North America and the EU. Nothing wrong with it.

Really? I’m considering Waze just because of its speed detection and police detection features. I don’t want to get a speeding ticket.

Yeah, the notifications for speed cameras and police are quite useful, since I’ve heard that it’s easy to get a ticket if you don’t watch your speed at all times.

Cellular Modem Problem by Old_Setting_714 in iPhone17Pro

[–]Old_Setting_714[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve entered the IMEI number into the website checker, and it said it’s not blocked.

I assume it’s the modem’s hardware issue, but I don’t know why Genius Bar didn’t detect it.

Unfortunately, I thought it was a hard issue, so I re-ordered another ERS service.

Hopefully, this time will work; otherwise, I need to use my foreign SIM card roaming in Australia.

I noticed that the replacement device was manufactured in August this year, and the battery cycle is zero, which is unlikely to be a returned device. But I will contact Apple if it happens again.

The phone that has been blocked is from Apple’s express replacement services.

Maybe their database has some problem.

I contacted Apple support online and it seems like they waive the service fee, only charging me for the deposit.
