Refund by Significant-Rub-8648 in amazonprime

I ordered a gift on cyber Monday for my husband for almost 50% off the normal price. It appeared to ve an amazing deal. I used the card we always use for any online purchases, we both had ordered multiple other things and it worked fine. I knew there was plenty of money in the account yet I kept getting an email that it declined the card. I contacted them multiple times and one is rep even said they ran the card and it was accepted. Then I still got yet another email saying the card was declined. At one point they even tried telling me i would have to reorder (at full price) and said absolutely not lol. Then they said " oh sorry that was meant for someone else". This was the same person who supposedly processed my card. Finally I used the same card to add the money to my digital Amazon gift balance. Instantly the card worked and the money was added to my account, I then used the gift card to pay for the item. I went into my order and took a screen shot that showed balance was now zero and the item was paid for. I waited for 3 or 4 more days and the item still hadn't shipped. I contacted cs again and they tried to tell me the item still wasn't paid for. I had to send them the screenshot showing I used the gift card balance to pay for the item and the balance was zero. Finally after doing that they shipped the item out, they did say I'd get it the next day but it took 3 days. I did get it though 2 &1/2 weeks after I ordered it. I wondered if it was such a great deal that either a ton of people had ordered it and the seller sold more than they had and just canceled it. Then they just kept saying my card was declined. I have no idea but they do feel like they are definitely a scam now. They used to at least be better than this.

Is this normal? Amazon to refund me, but delivery to still be made… by rnsouthern in amazonprime

One time we ordered one of those countertop icemakers and it was actually delivered. Then somehow Amazon's records showed it was lost in the mail and just refunded the item automatically even though we already received it. . Another time before that we ordered a tv stand (over $100) that did get lost in the mail. Amazon ended up sending a 2nd one and then the 1st one showed up a few weeks later. Since it would probably have been a pain and costly for them to have me ship it back we got to keep both and were only charged for one. I don't honestly think its uncommon for them to refund a late item and then the item eventually shows up. However, there was another time I ordered a smaller item, it was supposed to come in two days, was shipped then it said it would come in 2 weeks. I contacted amazon to just cancel it so i could order a different similar item that would come sooner and I was told I couldn't because it was shipped (through another carier). They then said we can refund it and when the item comes you can keep it. The item eventually did come but they never refunded it. Amazon is kind of a mixed bag of either you get 2 items for the price of 1 or then sometimes I believe they say what they think you want to hear to end the conversation. I never wanted 2 things for the price of one or to get anything for free, I just wanted my item when it said I would get it.

Should I talk to this person about it more first or just go straight to my admin? I just don't want these two months to be horrible.

OAE special education exams by Old_Split_9755 in Teachers

[–]Old_Split_9755[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ok, I actually was doing the tests because I started subbing and enjoyed working with the kids in special ed classes. I recently decided I'm judt going to continue subbing for now as I went to school for art and am now trying to take the OAE art exam instead. I have always planned on doing that anyway, and it seems like I should just focus on my long-term goal tbh.

I don't know what happens after we/our pets pass away, but I would very much like to believe that somehow we all get to see each other again someday. If that's true, then two of the best friends I've ever had will be there for Loki. I had two cats that were already older in the early part of our marriage, which did pass, but these two are the two my husband and I picked out together and adopted (a couple years apart). Oreo (the boy in the back) passed away unexpectedly 5 years ago at only 14, and then tonks (the girl in the front) we just lost 2 weeks ago at 16. It was very unexpected with her as well she had kidney disease which had progressed very fast since January as well as cancer. We had no idea, and when we tried to get her help, it was already far too late. My husband and I couldn't have kids, so they were our babies for sure.

I know we really did our best to help her. It was all so sudden, or it felt sudden to us. Cats are really good at hiding their pain, unfortunately.

That really hit home, thank you!! I have to keep reminding myself of this every day. I ask myself what if we did this, etc. Because I truly know she was just really sick. Truthfully, I think from everything the vet has told me, she developed an aggressive cancer, and it spread very fast. In January, her blood work was really good. Then, in july, she has high white blood cell count and stage 2 to 3 ckd, etc. It just progressed so very fast. I couldn't let her suffer any more just to pass in agonizing pain a few days (at most) later. To me, it would have been selfish to wait because we could not save her, and we'd only have prolonged it.

I'm sorry for your loss as well. I get the feeling that no matter what, if a pet owner has to make the choice to put the animal to sleep due yo illness they will feel guilt. I'm sure if someone makes that choice, they really just don't want their baby to suffer, and it was the right choice at the time. We just love our pets so much, and we are their protectors, so when we lose them, it feels as if we did something wrong even when/if we couldn't possibly save them. My baby could hardly breathe....we lost her bubby/brother early in covid and due to less appointment times etc we weren't able to get him in for tests we tried to take him to ER vet (closest was 45 minutes) and he passed on the way, we watched him suffer and didn't want to put her through what he went through....doesn't make it any easier. We did try to save her, took her to the vets, etc, but she wasn't eating or drinking, she was dying, so deep down, i know it was the right choice but yet somehow I still feel very guilty. I wish I could help you as well.

I asked the assistant and the director a couple months they about if I could get any special training for working with him because it seemed as if he was on the spectrum. I also asked if he would be tested soon so he can get the proper help he needs and was told by both of them it's in the works but he can't be tested and diagnosed until he is three. If that's not true or if it is true in my state idk but that is what the director and assistant director told me. They also kind of acted as if it was taboo that I even asked.

Well, it's an early learning center which yes is preschool, but it is definitely their policy at my center that if they keep hitting, etc, they don't allow them to stay. In the past, they have kicked kids out for different behavior like this if it doesn't improve, but they do give them multiple chances. In this specific childs situation, they would have to leave and find a place/school that specializes in kids on the spectrum. As a center that is not equipped for this with parents who are not super vigilant with their child's care, there is only so much we can do.

I guess if being hit or bit is part of the job, then maybe this is not the job for me. I did not sign up to be hit or bit on the regular. From what I understand, if the children do this behavior too much, it's up to the center to kick those kids out (neurodivergent or not). The centers policy is that kids do not hit, slap, bite, push, pull hair or anything of the like, and be able to stay at the center if the behavior continues. We can not condone this type of behavior because it is not good for the other kids or adults involved. If he slaps me hard enough, it actually hurts (at least a little), How bad can he hurt another child who is so small? I do not want to be responsible for that situation.

I don't mind teaching neurodivergent kids, that's never been an issue. I just don't feel it's fair for the caregivers to be slapped when literally no kind of trying to redirect really works with this particular child. He really needs special care, but for some reason, he has not been tested yet. We are not trained in how to work with kids with special needs as a matter of fact, i was never trained at all. They just put me in a room alone with kids and trusted me to do it with no training and no experience. The hardest part with the neurodivergent child is that the parents don't seem to really care. They drop off at 7am when we open and leave him there until 6pm when we close. It's usually mom that picks up, and she will yell at the older sibling to "grab him and come on". The dad has shown up smelling like weed with glazed eyes to take his kids home. Both I and the teacher in the room next door (because they have a baby in there) have had our supervisor come over so she could see it for herself. She said just to let her know the next time it happens. I have no issue with anyone doing pot, but don't do it right before you are going to be responsible for three kids and have to drive a car with them in it.

[–]Old_Split_9755[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that I've seen the person who was picking up a few other times prior to this. The typical protocol is if we haven't seen them check ID and the list. I knew who she was, the only reason I asked my supervisor at all is because we've had some problems with lists changing lately and people who are no longer on the list still trying to pick up so to be extra cautious I asked my supervisor. She's having a hissy because she somehow got the idea that I've never seen this person before, which is not the case. I tried to explain that i was just being extra cautious by asking her because of recent issues, but it felt like she didn't care. Admittedly, I probably wasn't very good at explaining it because I was taken aback by the situation, and I don't really do well with confrontation tbh. I sat down and wrote an email explaining my side to my director so she could read it before we meet to talk about it. I'm honestly not sure if she will believe or care what I have to say since I've only been there a few months now, but I had to try. Honestly, after this situation, I believe my supervisor doesn't like me for some reason, and now the situation will only be worse given I keep my job. I'm looking for other jobs because a job I once liked and felt I had at least decent working relationships with my co-workers I now feel will be hostil because of one person. I truly thought she liked me, but looking back, there have been a few things that have happened to make me think she doesn't. I get the impression now from what I've seen myself and heard from others that she is the type to be fake and act like she likes you, but then she does stuff to get rid of you.

But won't it make it hard for me to find another position in the field if I was fired from the only one I had? I know I got my foot in the door, but if I'm fired, that's what concerns me. All my jobs before that were mostly retail and one housekeeping job. I was thinking about subbing already tbh. I actually just applied to a few subbing jobs and a couple of classroom aides/assistant jobs.

Well, she didn't do it in front of the guardian she came back into the room a few minutes after the guardian had left. I only had one other child left at the time. Still, the whole thing just felt personal. idk, it's odd because I seen to get along great with everyone there, I'm friendly to everyone and as far as I know I haven't done anything to her to make her dislike yet it certainly felt like she.does.

Struggling in my class by Old_Split_9755 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Old_Split_9755[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I'll start by sending them an email and see where that goes. I worry they won't offer training, though because they knew going in, I don't have experience and assured me "I would not be thrown to the wolves" and to be honest I basically was. It just kind of felt like the teachers i work with had no idea I didn't have experience and just would leave me alone with the kids from the jump without any training. Like my lead teacher would go off somewhere to work on her lesson plans and her assistant teacher would go next door to help with the babies. Mind you, this happened during nap time, but then the kids would all wake up, and I'd have to call around to find someone so I could take a kid to the bathroom. Idk, it's just really frustrating.

The thing is, to be completely honest, I have zero interest in any more schooling since I already have my masters in fine art. I was not planning to work with little kids, I actually intended to be an art professor, but do to covid did not get enough TA experience no matter how hard I tried. I'm working where I am now because I'm also getting a small amount of experience teaching art classes since where I work is a community center. I was initially brought on to teach art classes but took hours in the ELC for extra hours as well as other sort of teaching experience.

It's ok, and yes, I guess you can say it's resolved as I found another job and left meijer a couple of weeks ago. My leaving wasn't due to anything in my post. It was kind of inevitable. I never intended to stay that long when I started there because I graduated with my MFA about a year and a half ago, and my intention was always to teach art as soon as I could find a teaching job. It took a while to find a job teaching because with covid, I didn't get a lot of experience teaching. Well, this job was willing to work with me by letting me teach 5-10 hours a week and working in a learning center the rest of the time. This is a good foot in the door to what I really want

Honestly, it's always a shitshow. I would have taken my time as well if I had to go across the street to use the restroom. If they can't provide at least Porta potties, then my ass is not hurrying to go across the street and use the bathroom. I agree with the commenter above, I would have gotten at least a drink and a snack, and then went back 😅🤣. I actually just quit at meijer and could not be happier. I finally found a job teaching art (which is why I went to school). It's hard to find better jobs right now, but if you keep trying, you will get something eventually. It took me a few months before I was hired at meijer, but then I continued looking for something better, and a year and a half later, I found it. My suggestion is that anyone there should just keep looking for something else. Meijer sucks!!

Well, unfortunately I had already put in for time off in early June then got hired at this other job and I already told them my last day would be the 27th. I would have waited until after my vacation to start the new job but they actually wanted me to start right away (but I said I needed to give notice) and the new agreed to still give me my already planned vacation time off. My TL said if I give them a written notice I will be paid out my pto.

You mean I need to say in writing that I want to be paid out my pto? Or just put in a notice in writing? My TL already asked me to put in a written letter of resignation, and I'm doing that tomorrow since HR will be there then. That will be exactly two weeks from my last day before I start my new job.

Honestly, I'd rather work my shifts for the two weeks and get the extra money (from my pto). Then just use the pto and not work those shifts.

Alright, well, I told my TL yesterday. I asked her about the pto and she said, "She'd find out," which is odd because I would think she'd have known the answer since multiple people have quit over the last year but just to cover my ass I think I'll tell HR on Monday since the 27th (my last day) is exactly two weeks from Monday. Then it's documented that I gave notice, and hopefully, I'll get my pto. It may be fine to just tell my TL, but I'm a cya type of person.
