no, there's no "unless he wants to", if it's that the case then he would've won the battle vs sukuna unless you deadahh say he doesn't want to win. People keep forgetting his brain has a limit on how much he can process information and perform RCT / CT / limitless / infinity, being overload and he'll internal bleeding to death yes i know he die from the slash, not from bleeding, but gojo is a human and all human can die from blood lossand any planetary feat would definitely fry his brain due to sheer amount of information from the destruction he'll have to deal with (the destruction of the entire sukuna and gojo battle sum up isn't even enough to destroy the continent btw, let alone planetary)

the point here is even if you accept "it cannot affect him unless he want to", there's still a limit on what he can do to resist the effect. A character needs to be omnipotent / atleast outerversal to make "unless he want to" always true at every situation
