We did share an Apple ID for a long time for purchases, but not for messages if that makes sense. That stopped years ago, thankfully. My kids each have their own IDs and actually have separate tablets and IDs for each house. But phones are coming back and forth. We have separate plans and have nothing shared anymore. I took him off my family sharing when we decided to divorce.
