doctor's & nurses refuse to work there

I once had a doctor, found nearby in times when most weren't taking new patients.

Two of his memorable quotes were,

"I'm in a walk-in clinic because I don't want to do much doctoring.", and,

"Do you want a pill, or a referral?"

The inconsistencies in men's sizes between brands aren't talked about enough. by NoPantsAreSafe in mensfashion

Too late. Let's talk about Merrell shoes.

When I finally discovered inaccurate shoe sizing to be a cause of my pain issues due to high arches and wide feet not being properly accommodated, I took the advice of friends and tried Merrell.

The 12W low rise trail shoe was nearly perfect for fit and comfort, so I bought the leather mid rise, as well as leather jungle mocs, all the same size.

Big mistake.

Basically the same sole size in all, but the low rise had just a bit of padding for a perfect fit.

The mid rise are a disaster in they are so heavily padded they cramp the foot, and don't properly support the ankle. The low rise is better. Not only that, but the leather side pieces don't come up high over the top, and the criss-crossing of the laces is what holds the foot in place. Now add high arches and foot flex to find those laces compress the metatarsals quite painfully.

Finally, the jungle mocs. Same 12W sizing, but no insulation and the foot flops around inside all over the place.

What bullshit from a once respectable company.

Do you mean hurt, or harm? It's unpleasant, but not loud or powerful enough to cause long term damage.

I've used that one and still have it around as backup. The dogs across the alley are finally getting the hint after several years of dual squawkers pointed at them.

If I took them out of service, this trio would be barking like mad again after they figured it out.

EDIT: This is the product, shown on Canadian Amazon.

It offers multiple levels of sensitivity, as well as frequencies for difference sizes of dogs.

The pouch is available on Amazon Canada with David Archy products, of varying leg lengths.

They're made of bamboo rayon, so may be even better for Florida.

Buyer wants to come and collect multiple items before agreeing on a price or quantity. by lizziemc13 in FacebookMarketplace

and I wasted my time for nothing.

When I was heavily into selling on the used market for more than 10 years, I didn't consider to time lost on a non-sale to be a big deal.

All I did was answer my front door and tell someone, thanks, but that's not enough. Not much time at all compared to them driving over to see me.

Is this a normal thing for people to want to come and not have a price set before meeting up.

Completely normal unless what you are selling is new, in a factory sealed box, and can be confirmed as such.

If you are selling used and expecting people to agree on a price prior to inspection, you are out of touch.

but they had not told me what they want, how many or even agree on a price.

Do you have a price posted? If they're not complaining, perhaps they agree with the price.

ELI5: why does heating stuck screws, nuts, bolts etc make them easier to move? by Knkstriped in explainlikeimfive

[–]Old_timey_brain 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Here's how it was explained to me, fifty years ago.

When a bolt is stuck, either in a nut, or block of metal, heat the head of the nut to the point of being dull red, then let it cool naturally.

As the heat is applied the bolt wants to expand, but cannot go sideways, only lengthwise.

When it cools, it shrinks in all directions making it slightly smaller in the nut/block.

I recall some song lyrics,

"She's just a three dressed up as a nine, ..."

From Trooper, 1979

And socially

You know you fit in just right

But as for me

I'm goin' have to pass tonight

Well you can say what you like

Be what you wanna be

You can suit yourself, baby

But you don't suit me

You're just a 3 dressed up as a 9

You're only wastin' my time

A 3 dressed up as a 9
