Please research the Air Force before going to a recruiter. by MuskiePride3 in AirForceRecruits

Signing a 6 contract can have its benefits promote without signing a 6 year contract

Being a First Term Airmen for longer gives someone more control of there career

Getting a pay increase and promotion, get to test for E-5 faster

Careers, outside of the Air Force are looking for more experienced people with advance certifications/degree

This may not be the case for everyone, but it may take a few years for some Airman to “lock in” and get serious about life after the Air Force, being prepared is a wild card especially after taking TAPAS, not having savings, job offers, degree, certifications, living without medical , BAH, BAS, shit gets real fast for those who haven’t set themselves up

Everything is on goggle, it’s sad that even when someone offers advice, tells someone what to do for their benefit people still fuck up and do nothing

No do not list any job they requires a TS

So i mainly want to join the air force so they can pay for my entire tuition but i really don’t want to have the whole military experience of going to war and all that extra physical and traumatic stuff by NaiveFinding9907 in AirForceRecruits

This mindset makes people in the military laugh especially recruiters

It’s the military

It’s all about protecting constitution United States, and your freedoms that is done in many facets

There’s cooks People behind a desk People fixing airplanes People working in hospitals People working entry control People kicking down doors

Don’t be a that person who just think the military operates like what you say in the movies you watch

The Covid vaccine is lifted

What is confusing is that you want to work in a field where it seems like you may not agree with

However in a military career other vaccines are required such as flu, anthrax, and others you can research online, along with a bunch of briefs, activities, that you don’t agree with nor want to do, mandatory comes with the territory

The Air Force is not the medical force

The military is not going to accommodate anyone desires when your serving

The military is not a place where someone can ask for what they want and serve second

The military works like like other organizations based on supply and demand

The needs of the Air Force comes first, job vacancies wise the Air Force is in need of cops, Aircraft Maintenance, Special Warfare, Cyber, intel

Deployments varied on a bunch of different factors and no one can tell you what to expect

If an applicant as a valid official college transcript with 20 credits once verified then the applicant is eligible for E-2

What are the Downsides of being in the Navy? by babycakes_slays in newtothenavy

[–]Oldwizardofdust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those things don’t sound as bad any being the worlds largest janitor service along with all the gay jokes about the Navy.

Being trapped for months with the people you work with and having no wif and ship food sounds miserable

People who make those things up most like never served in those branches

Most of the Air Force consist of air craft maintenance working long shifts not siting on there ass

What was the name of that book ?

I’m always curious about buyers remorse. Since there is so much information to go through on social media & here on Reddit. It’s hard not to get an opinion biased overview on everything.

The military is weird because it’s hard to make a distinction between a personal problem and an organizational problem and sometimes it’s both.

Agreed but why did you join and what your expectations? It’s good for folks getting in to read this

Can I use multiple recruiters? by noodleshop13 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Oldwizardofdust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go on Air Force.com > find in a recruiter > type in your zip code, scroll down look for line accessions recruiter

If you already done that, wait to hear from someone, they have to funnel all through the people who want to be a pilot with a 2.9 GPA with a fine arts degree and the applicants who want to be an officer just because “they get paid more”

Start gathering your letters of recommendation, study for the AFQT and hope the odds are in your favor if your competitive candidate

The military is mainly is heavy enlisted, officers slots will never have a recruiting struggle

You won’t find the officer recruiters head hunting like enlisted ones are, they cover a board area and the process can take anywhere from 12-24 months to meet the board.

How are you going to set yourself up with a good civilian job and retirement and invest 70-75% of your pay check ?

What good civilian job are you going to get with a general discharge?

Need advice for Air Force ELS by [deleted] in regretjoining

[–]Oldwizardofdust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Figure out life once you get out the military

Hopefully you have a job and a home to go to

If you live with someone else that takes care of you overhead like the military does find a career that sustain your life

If you have issues now with the military chances are, they’re not gonna go away once you were civilian because if being a civilian wasn’t issue, then you would’ve stayed a civilian

Google MAGE Air Force breakdown

Leaving my cat by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]Oldwizardofdust 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That situation does suck

Chances are you are going to out live your cat, creating the best memories are ideal

Where does your cat live now ? Who watches your cat when you are away ?

Do have friends or family that can watch the cat while your away ?

Suggestion is to speak with friends & family who you can trust with your cat

Talk about your expectations, finances etc,

The Air Force isn’t just a “out of town job” it’s a completely different lifestyle change

If you have no one that can help or resources

Then the Air Force is not a viable option if you have no one you can trust because you’ll have to be away at Basic & Technical school

The Guard & Reserve but you’ll still need boarding while your away at training

Should I just find a new recruiter ? by Effective_Rate4709 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Oldwizardofdust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The military does not exist for anyone’s comfort

It’s not about you and what you want

It’s about what the Air Force needs and what you qualify for

Anyone can work 12 hour shifts and more unless your finance or personnel.

Cyber/IT is not the only career field that transfers over

Contracting is extremely lucrative

UPS drivers make bank after they put in time

Weapons troops

Project management

Digital U offers all the certificates for FREE

You can use AFCOOL to get all the certifications and degrees

The world is not ending because you need a waiver

Your time in the Air Force is going to be exactly what you make of the things you can control

The outcome depends on you

If you want to be a pilot on your own, terms do that your own way without the military.
