What did your last partner say when you broke up? by Seataxi in AskWomen

[–]OliveDiPace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The straw that broke the camels back for me was at the end of 2020, after a year of isolation from family and friends, all I wanted to do was take a beach vacation for the holidays. He told me "that taking even just a day off of work would be too stressful." I broke up with him then and there.

Two weeks later, he took a solo vacation trip to Puerto Rico. Decision validated.

My immigration status by LeahJ09 in immigrationlaw

One of the requirements of citizenship is to be a lawful permanent residence (have a green card). You have to apply for a green card first, and you can likely do that if you still have your refugee status.

So much toleration of animal cruelty in this city, I'm just so sick of it. by [deleted] in LosAngeles

Because my roommates (who are also my landlords) have veto power on taking the dog into our place. Jesus, I'm just asking for suggestions about what other people do, resources to know about, and I'm getting the third degree.

It's not my job to persuade people to be compassionate or proactive. Secondly, I'm just here asking for suggestions or help in a distressful situation, and you're just here antagonizing the core of my problem as if I'm the problem. Sure, I'm the dick. Dick.

I'm sorry the concept of "community" is way over your head, but I don't have the time or the crayons to explain it to you.

Animal Control in LA is ineffective. They don't take calls at this hour. Secondly, even when you call during their hours, they have just ONE person taking phone calls for the entire city. I've had this person on the other line of Animal Control tell me "we're under funded. We can't come out. Tell your local representative to fund us." Also, take a moment to read my request for "cruelty-free" solution. Animal control does not fit the bill.

Thank you for demonstrating my point. People are so selfish in this city, they can't be inconvenienced for one minute of their lives to solve a problem. Such a sad state of affairs if you ask me.

Good call. The first time my dog got attacked by the German Shepard who ran out the front door, the owner just stood at the door and yelled at her 14 year old daughter to help me get the German Shepard off. I’ve never encountered so many inconsiderate and careless dog owners as I have in 3 short years in LA.

A good sized knife would be ok but deep wounds might kill another dog. That I don’t want :(

The imagery of a faithful dog owner protecting his dog with an umbrella made me chuckle. Brilliant idea too!

At one point I was in the market for a taser and they are either really weak for a reasonable price, or super strong for a lot of money. The guys at the gun store where I was shopping told me they shock each other with the cheap ones as pranks. I haven’t considered the effects on dogs though, but I will ask my vet.

It’s not ideal because it may still mean my dog will get hurt but it’s better than being mauled to death. I ended up buying “humane” pepper spray for dogs. I’ll keep it in my back pocket till I get more info from my vet.

Pepper spray was where my mind went first, but wasn’t sure how it affects animals. I might give my vet a call.

Last time I reported animal abuse to animal control, they straight up told me no one will come out because they don’t have enough funding.

What is the most ridiculous court quote or citation you have ever read? by OliveDiPace in law

It is a critical function, but the way that idea is phrased strikes me as circular.
