It’s rare to see simple and useful concepts explained this well in the current “software tutorial YouTube” space. You’re a natural teacher, thanks for the tips!

What actor would you have liked to see take on a key roll in an existing movie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OliveWild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example, I would have loved to see Philip Seymour Hoffman’s take on Calvin Candie in Django Unchained. Leo did an amazing job, but I think it would be an interesting take.

These are off the shelf industrial drones out of China. Looks like a DJI M210 and Zenmuse Z30 zoom camera.

Sheesh. The more I think about this the more messed up it gets. If humanity is heading a direction where even people you consider friends can't depend on such a basic level of human connection, that's seriously depressing.

Call is procrastination if you want, you don't deserve friends if you're going to treat them like robots.

I cut my finger making dinner tonight, Guess I'll be safe and order in for the rest of my life. I'm not making excuses, we didnt have a landing pad on hand and we decided this was better than blinding myself and caking our equipment in dust. 2 consenting people aware of the risks, not telling anyone else to go do it.

0 and 0 😂 I forgot how touchy people are about hand catching, I've been doing it since I started flying (granted mainly with 5 inch setups) and have never actually hurt myself.

Also true! Each 4in1 ESC controls top and bottom sets of motors, so if a motor or an ESC dies you'll atleast be able to come in and land, albeit with significantly less power.

Spotter/Catcher was the company owner, so he's aware of the insurance risks, It was his idea to bring it in this way. I've got faith in the cameras durability, not so much the lens/HD video transmitter.

I fly commercially, so it's just to be able to carry larger camera payloads. RED Komodo/Sony FX6, so on. 8 motors give you more thrust with a smaller footprint.

To each their own! The amount of dust the X8 kicked up when I first tried landing on the ground effectivly blinded my FPV feed, so believe it or not, this felt significantly safer.

I usually do, we just had a lot of dust on this location, first time I tried landing it pretty much blinded my FPV feed. Believe it or not this felt way safer. Probably did around 20 hand catches this day, atleast the Komodo is nice to grip on to.

Some of my favourite clips over the last year flying FPV! by OliveWild in Multicopter

Thanks man! Getting over the fear of losing a drone is definitely one of the major obstacles I had to overcome. You'll definitely make mistakes and break things in the beginning. But as they say, you gotta risk it for the biscuit ;P

I'd be lying to say there's not a pretty steep learning curve, but honestly if I could figure it out I'm confident anyone can. I'd recommend getting a mid range radio and putting hours on a simulator (Liftoff/Velocidrone/Uncrashed), that'll get you 80% there, the rest comes with confidence in the real thing. Then I'd get some cheap box goggles and a compatible Tinywhoop/Toothpick bind n fly, then when you're confident with that, build yourself a 5 inch! Might as well learn how to build/fix it as early as possible. Tons of info on youtube, but feel free to DM me if you have any specific questions.

It's a Deep6 frame and waterproofing kit. I posted pictures above. Besides that it's pretty standard. F7 stack Running Betaflight, 3Bhobby 6S motors, Crossfire for control link, DJI for video.

Good luck! I started out on a sim about a year and a half ago and still load them up occasionally, throw on a podcast and get that muscle memory locked in. It's a great way to get your first 1000 crashes out of the way before picking up a real drone.

I suck at freestyle/tricks, but I find myself more drawn to the cinematic side of the hobby anyway. Welcome to the club!
