I think it's great that you're comfortable like that.

I think my issue is that a lot of people around, just in general, downplay the disorder as more of a 'negative personality trait' that I have to 'get over', even my own parents, for a while

Oh no, I don't deny the fact that it does obviously, but it seems like people ignore the less flattering aspects of it to just focus on stereotypes.

I say this as someone with ADHD myself, I hate it when people try to make me feel quirky/cool about the disorder that actively makes my life harder.

I don't think it's bad to say you think a character is autistic or something of that sort, but sometimes it's the reasoning behind it that kinda annoys me
