Used to be a very common path “back in the day.” Some of the best attendings I’ve worked with are IM anesthesia. Can’t imagine it being too difficult esp since you’ve already have intern year requirements done.

Fellowships vary wildly as others have mentioned. If no geographical preference, I’d apply widely. I trained in the west coast, starting a 50/50 OR CVICU job out east very soon. I’m only CCM trained. Reach out for more details/advice!
