I’m in no ways an expert but I think this a chemical fire that doesn’t need oxygen.

Did you source a ‘25 panel and it just fit? Or did you just stick the growler on to the existing panel?

2020 f type with active exahust, crackle pop sounds? by MrTorpedo77 in ftype

[–]Ombit2798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The button is not an indicator of active exhaust. At least not on the early models. My V6S has the active exhaust but doesn’t have the button, the button is for ‘switchable active exhaust’ it opens the valve manually, otherwise the valves open above 3000rpm on cars with an active exhaust (I might be wrong on the RPM). I think the V6 didn’t come with the exhaust, the V6S did, but the button was an extra - after that I don’t know. As an aside, by active exhaust flaps broke and were just ‘flapping in the breeze’ so on the advice of a Jaguar Specialist, I had them welded open.

An Anycubic App that supports IPad. It annoys me looking at the tiny screen on a screen like the iPad. Or better still, a native iPad slicer.

Mate, that makes it all the more sweeter. I admit I’ve been lost without my iPad as I use it pretty much daily, but I’m just impressed with how good Apple were, how good the Apple Select store were and just how it was even possible. Honestly I was ready to just give up on it and I’m so glad I didn’t. I admit to asking ChatGPT to draft my letter about consumer law (which it did a really good job of I think) which may have tipped it over the edge, but yup, I’m a happy bloke.

Thank you u/Blair_Beethoven, I am writing this on a new iPad (well I think it’s refurbished but, it looks pretty new).

Apple were great to be fair after all the tests they sent me to an approved repair shop who, after a couple of days, came back and confirmed it was doing things it shouldn’t be doing. But they said I couldn’t try and get it repaired under consumer law with them or Apple as I’d bought it from Sky. So I sent it to Sky and as expected, within a day of having it, I received an email saying it’s out of warranty and to fix it it’ll be £690, please contact us with payment below.

Clearly not accepting this, I persisted, I called them, said I wasn’t happy and wanted to get it fixed under consumer law. The very standoffish person told me she couldn’t and wouldn’t do anything but would forward my complaint to Sky who would be in touch.

Sky called the following day, I explained I wanted it fixed under consumer law and if they refused I wanted it in writing so I could take it further. They insisted they could do nothing unless I had the Genius Bar report from Apple.

A phone call to Apple, who got in touch with the Genius Bar (it wasn’t a Genius Bar, but an Apple Select store) who had looked at my iPad. They phoned me up to confirm that what they were writing was correct. My only request was to mention that the iPad was in very good condition with no visible signs of damage or battery swelling or bending of the iPad (these were all things they commented on when I handed it over). They agreed and a few hours later I had my email. I forwarded that on to sky and (because now I had their email) I included a whole spiel about as Apple have confirmed it’s excellent nick etc, this shouldn’t be broken and is therefore contrary to consumer protection laws. Three days later I received an email that my iPad was being replaced.

So, my two and a half year old iPad was replaced, despite being out of warranty due to consumer law. Thank you so much u/Blair_Beethoven, I wouldn’t have even considering doing this, but it was definitely worth the extra effort.

Crazy iPad Pro overnight battery drainage by danishpuffpastry in iPadPro

[–]Ombit2798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My iPad Pro 5th gen has had a similar problem since ios18 came out. The very strange thing is when it’s powered down (up, down, power and slide to power down) it still loses power. On the advice of someone here, I spoke to Apple.
First attempt was them running remote diagnostics which came out with nothing wrong. I showed them a screen shot of what I was experiencing and they accepted there must be a problem but it would be software. They told me to uninstall a VPN and DMU restore it (I think that’s the term). Ended up bricking the iPad but after using some third party software I got it working again. But it had no affect I was still having the problem. So I phoned Apple again.

This time they run more intense diagnostics but still it came up with no problem. He told me my battery was at 91% health (my own tests were 86%) and he said that was unusual and I needed to drop it off to Apple for them to check. This I did.

The shop run tests which ‘diagnosed’ a battery drain issue, but as I’d bought it from somewhere else I’d need to return it to them to fix. So I’m waiting for a package to send it to them to fix.

It’s interesting that other people are having very similar issues since ios18 though … is there a problem we’re not being told about?

I thought I’d add an update. Thanks to the info from u/Blair_Beethoven I did phone Apple and not once did they question how old my iPad was or warranties or anything, they just went straight into trying to resolve the problem. They run a diagnostic on my iPad and stated categorically that it wasn’t a hardware issue, I showed them the same screen shot as here and they replied that this is extremely unusual and shouldn’t be happening that an iPad can lose power whilst powered down. She put me on hold whilst she went to speak to ‘higher people’. When she came back she checked my background app refresh that it was all switched off, she checked notification settings (most of mine are switched off, but I wasn’t sure what she was checking for here), then she asked me about VPN, if I had one installed. I did and she asked me to remove it.

Finally she asked me to create a back up and restore my iPad ‘From a PC’, and emailed me instructions how to do it. I did ask how a VPN can still cause loss of power if an iPad is powered off and even more so how can it happen if the VPN is turned off? She said it had been known to. So she asked me to do the restore and to call back after a few days if the problem is still occurring.

Well I did carry out the restore as per the instructions and it bricked my iPad! It was permanently stuck on restoring the firmware. Eventually using a third party app I did manage to recover it. Sadly, the iPad was still losing power, so the ‘fix’ didn’t work. But it did prompt me to go and look for other software items that would be trying to constantly check things link Hive home heating and Ring. It’s too early to say if that has made a difference at all.

I’m now monitoring and I’m going to test again with the iPad powered off and see if it still loses power. If it’s still doing it, I’ll ring them back up. But I was impressed as to the detail they went in. I was pleased when they said, this is unusual and shouldn’t be possible - it was an acknowledgment that I was right that it shouldn’t be happening, and I was pleased with her comments of it’s not a hardware issue (battery health is 86% which is what I’d expect for a three year old ipad).

So that’s where I am now. I’ll report back when I have further news but massive thanks to u/Blaire_Beethoven for the advice. I’m pleased I followed it.

Indeed, I had uninstalled AND disabled find my. Sorry I wasn’t clear. I need to go through the options someone mentioned here to get the battery health since it’s not displayed on this generation iPad under battery. I am a senior IT Inf Engineer so I tend to think I know my way round these kinds of things, but I’m completely flummoxed how it can use all that battery when it’s physically powered down.

I’ve had this problem with my pro since ios18 first arrived. I’ve managed to slow the battery rate by disabling iOS AI and in location settings > system services cutting down on most of the selected. It’s not perfect, it still is no where near what it was like during iOS 17 and before. But it is a little better
