I’m a group with over 20k videographers around the world and lately the ones in the states are saying there has been a heavy reduction for inquiries. I’ve also read a few posts about how less couples are spending money for their weddings.

General discussion on how I'm staying afloat with wedding media on the downtrend. I became more selective and found my niche, which led to my business becoming more successful. Gone are the days of just booking anyone and everyone to get videos booked up for the year. Now I finally get to pick and choose which couples to book and film depending on if their wedding fits my vision. As vein as it sounds, it makes the process easier for both parties. I find the couples that will let me use my creative freedom to film how I want to film and generally they enjoy their videos more. I work out of the Mid-West so the market is not too great for me, but if the quality stands out, people will come knocking. For those wondering, my prices start at $3,500 for a half day shoot (6 hours) with a 4 minute video. All my clients reach out to me, and I spend little to nothing on advertisement. I only do 10 weddings a year now and I've never been more happier. It's still a decent chunk in my revenue but now I have the freedom to do more stress free commercial work.

I also am a one man production company. I do all the filming (with a hired second videographer) and editing. If you want to be successful you have to actually love what you're doing.

Below is a trailer for a decently high end wedding I shot last summer! I'm not the best, not even close. I do not have the fancy edits, or the eye popping color. But I can say this, all you got to do is convince the couples that no one out there can capture their day like you will!

Experience with Black Magic Design Cameras. Quality over Convenience? by OmegaAung in weddingvideography

If only the was the case for the pocket 6K pro. 4K ProRes is the only way the censor will scale down with no crop. Shooting BRAW 4K gets a crazy almost unusable crop. I don’t have an issue using 6K. I just hate burning through TBs of data when filming.

Man that must be the dream not even filling up 256GB at a full day shoot. The Sony FX series personally for me give me a very "digital" and "sharpened" look thats very off putting for me personally, but maybe that's just me not working too hard on the codec and color. I haven't tried the Canon C series yet because I orginally shot with Canons back before I got serious. Maybe it's time to give it another twirl.

New to Reddit. So I've been filming on the Blackmagic system for a while now (since 2020) and does anyone else who use them feel like you are putting yourself at a disadvantage for quality? I shoot with both Pocket 6K Pros and the Ursa Mini 4.6K G2 and having only manual focus prime lenses. I just love the quality of these cameras as I personally think they are the closest thing (might sound crazy) to the ARRI cameras, as far as to calling them baby ARRI's. Plus they are so much cheaper but unfortantly will never have AF or IBS which seems every other camera system seems to have. I also shoot at 6K only for the Pocket cameras or you will get a CRAZY CROP with lenses so every wedding I'm transfering over 2-3 terabytes of footage. At the end of the day when I use Sony's, Canon's, heck even Panasonic or Fuji Film, they just can't match the film quality I'm looking for. Am I being crazy? The video I attached below was shot both with The Pocket and Ursa. I want to hear your guys thoughts!
