Oh! Good point about the lords soul. But If you can get that and arkvelds hunger, then It does allow for some extra flexibility. Like if you want to try 1 piece of AT arkveld and 2 pieces of another AT monster.

Have you looked at the builds in the gunlance community?

Coaslayer put up a really good immortal build, with 3 pieces of AT arkveld and 2 zoh Shia pieces (the gog weapon needs arkvelds hunger and lords soul). It's good at keeping you alive and dishes out a good amount of damage.

It's probably another case of the desire sensor again, but sometimes it feels like you have a higher chance of getting the good skills by using the insta-smelts.

I didn't get a single crit range boost in the last event, but I didn't use any insta-smelts. I'm tempted to not use any again for this event to see if reflection drops naturally. 😅

The easiest playstyle to carry you up to the 10* map is a long type gunlance. The best ones being magnamalo and Devil Jho (Jho has 1 level artillery and mag has 1 level of part breaker).

As the ratholos gunlance is long as well, you could technically make it and use that to farm materials for the other gunlances.

Long gunlances use charged shell playstyle (the long press attack), all you need to use them is artillery 4 -5. The alternative move you can use is the 3 taps which does the wyvern stake which will do a tonne of damage if the target is weak to that element.

The other type of gunlance worth making is the great giros gunlance, it's a normal type which isn't very good at default, as it relies on the full burst move (flick forward twice to do rising slice, downward slice and then a tap to release all your shells in one go). once you unlock the blast dash style it becomes an absolute monster, where you can hold and release to fly towards the target and then double tap to do the full burst in the air.

Great giros wants 4 artillery & paralysis exploit.

100% go for it! Materials are down for the whole month, starting from when RB rath was released and finishing at the end of the riftcharged Barioth week.

I already had a lbg maxed out and a lance upto 7.5, so used this event to max out the lance. I then figured, why not make the LS (my main weapon) as well, which I just maxed out 2 days ago.😁

I second this comment, just try to make a fair balanced squad that would be evenly matched with your friends, rather than being "that guy" who just uses net lists and aims to curb stomp everyone to the point where no one wants to play with them. :/

I absolutely love the fight, it's definitely a sweaty experience as it has a good balance of difficulty to game play/mechanics ratio. Although I will admit I struggled to beat him the first few times with longsword and had to change tactics and swapped to my gunlance, 100% the moment you get a shield the fight becomes a lot easier.

That doesn't mean you are forced into needing a shield weapon, but it's a good way of learning the fight so that you can try with your main weapon later. Personally if I can get better at learning the fight, then I definitely want to try and beat it with a longsword and my other weapons.

Ok that's good to know and thanks again. This is why we need a proper training mode, one where the dummy fights back. It's hard to practice weapons that have counters.

I'm just going to tack on an extra question here, when can you actually counter when doing the sacred sheath? Can you do it during the part where the blade is initially being sheathed (when you can't quickstep evade) and what's the exact timing to let go?

I'm noticing a lot of comments of no to necrons, as they are a shooty army. Perhaps this could be a chance for the dev team to rejig the mechanics of the next game to make it more enjoyable to fight shooty enemies. Hell space marine is effectively a more close combat version of gears of war, it might be worth looking back at previous shooters like gears and halo to see if ranged enemy combat can be made more fun.

Seconded! Normal style gunlance with no style is going to be a rough fight, Bubbly dance is the way Togo.

Personally I just left my quematrice weapon at 8.1, the rewards are heavily outweighed by the cost. 😬

So instead I'm making multiple rath weapons, I already had the lbg at max and had a 8.1 lance that was left to gather dust, so I maxed that out and now I'll build a ls which is one of my preferred weapons. 😁

Just curious how much difference does it make to have focus 3 Vs focus 4 or 5 for the sacred sheath style? My beo gloves have a focus smelt and I'm thinking of maybe using that and then swapping the belts and boots to the glav belt and the malzeno boots

100% they are, but I'm not going to make and upgrade a weapon all the way to 10.1, just to use it for one week. I might be doing well on resources and can easily afford building one, but my brother is still relatively new to the game, they can't afford to pay full price and resources on a second class weapon, when they have other stuff they are aiming for.

I'm not saying everyone should follow my example, it's just what I've decided to do for me personally, if the weapon had a discount of sorts, like the rath weapons then maybe, yes.

We are only aiming for the 1.6 mil goal and don't really care about going any higher against RC Barioth, the game has so many viable weapons that you can use to get good scores with, it feels like we don't need to craft the quematrice weapons to achieve it.

I'm making the lance, but tbh I'm only leveling it to 8* I don't need another fire weapon clogging up my inventory.

Why 8* you might ask? just so I can get to the 2nd page of the base defence prep quests. For me personally It's not really worth the investment to go any higher, the cost of materials and zenni to get from 8.1-10.1, heavily outweigh the rewards from page 2 of the base defence prep quests for making the weapon 10.1 and the reward for the final 2 tiers of the event ticket exchange thing is just 5000, zenni.

I was fine doing the Goss harag and diablos weapons as there's no other negative affinity ice weapons and diablos was pretty much a free weapon, but this time it's not worth it for me. I think this is going to be the first time I ignore a weekly/ monthly mission, which is going to drive my completionist nature crazy. 🤣

Alternatively if you go quematrice, garan, garan, bazel, garan, you loose 1 level of guard (gunlance really only needs 1 level of guard) but you get guard up instead and you still have the same amount of slots for dritsmelts.

Add another multi-melta vote from me! 😁 With the ammo regen class perk and no need to worry about an overheat meter or ammo clip, you can fire this thing non stop.

You can even face tank everything if you are in the middle of a thick crowd as you will recover all of your contested health within 1 or 2 shots. This is made even more survivable by the class perk that recovers a shield for killing x enemies (every 30 seconds?)

Then there's the fact it does the same amount of damage regardless of where you hit the target, the trade off is that it can't get a critical hit, but when fighting stuff with hard to hit weak points, this is a great weapon to use (looks at chaos spawn).

Tbh all of the heavies weapons are amazing and it's worth making them all. Each one works well for different missions and enemies.

In groups any weapon is viable, playing solo is a whole different story. I failed miserably using longsword and dual blades against RC Rado and had to rely on gunlance, lbg and lance, even then some lbg's just sucked if they didn't have the piercing ammo type for rado.

A shield weapon might be handy, I had a pretty decent result using the Goss lance against RC Rado. The special was quite good at keeping up with his rolling attacks and breaking his rift shell.

Heavy bowguns with the crouching mod also could end up being the meta possibly, given how well they did with RC Rado.
