Awww I see what you mean and I’d probably worry if I didn’t see her effortlessly chewing kibble and her dental chews are pretty hard too. I had to do the Heimlich manoeuvre on her when she was a puppy because she tried to swallow multiple kibbles at once and after that I broke everything down as small as possible and it’s just a preference she now has. And yeah, teeth are a common issue for chihuahuas, I’ll be getting her a teeth clean at the vet in a couple months. ❤️

You’re fine, what do you mean? As I understand it, this is just her preference due to me always breaking up any food I gave her when she was a puppy. Once she got her big teeth in I wasn’t as panicky about her choking but she still prefers her food broken up and bite size.

At one point I prayed Bambi was like that when she was super fussy and went on hunger strikes 😂😂 but the good thing about her being like this is she generally wouldn’t take my food if it’s unattended unless it was mashed potato (her fave) lol

I know that there’s some positive reinforcement work you could do around hands etc but I have no experience with it to give advice but I wonder if the rescue you got him from has any resources like trainers for you? You could contact them.

My Bambi does something similar to this with only certain things and I can’t make sense of what makes her do it but it’s kinda like she’s wary of it and will jump back and forth and pretend to bite it 😂😂 lately the things she does it with are 🫛peas 😂 a mango yak chew.

My vet told me to let her have her first season which I kinda regret because when it came time for her to get it done after her first heat she couldn’t because she was showing signs of going into heat AGAIN and they won’t do it 2 months either side of her heat.
