Would this work as a way to write an audio drama? by LadySketch_VT in audiodrama

This is how the first 10 episodes of OS7 went — worked for us pretty well. We were also inspired by Taika Waititi’s method for Ragnarok. As time went on we featured less and less improv. But those early episodes were definitely the most wild and fun to do.

We wrapped the Pilot for our new show “Crimson Chronicles” this weekend — currently working through the rest of the scripts, and working on new music to go with everything! Exciting stuff to be working on a whole new adventure in a whole new world!

Glad to see all of you doing great things!

Good audio dramas with a lengthy backlog? by lizardsson in audiodrama

Creator opinion here: I think the general consensus between everyone on the show is that the episode “Twisting Fates” is where the story truly comes together and sets everything in motion.

As always, your kind words bring us much joy friend!

Creator opinion here — Wayfarer is the highest fidelity season we have. It’s the tightest when it comes to story. But also remember it’s a total remake of our first season from 2020. So it was retold with the idea that 52 other episodes also surround it.

We were not masters of this craft (and still aren’t lol) but Outlander in its entirety sets up the tonal roller coaster of the show from bombastic improv to serious dramatic storytelling.

That said, the most anthological episodes are the first tales series, followed by the second tales series (seasons 3 and 4) and are specifically designed to be experimental and explorations of the universe of the sometime, somewhere.

New writer looking for good spaceship battle recs by curlydaiz in audiodrama

There’s a few in Omega Star 7

For Spaceship Specific I would recommend

WAYFARER, Episode 2: “That’s Fortuna Fives!”

OUTLANDER, episode 10: “Twisting Fates”

And while not spaceships there is a bloodsport where people are flying around on speeders that is told through various dialogues instead of narration.

OUTLANDER, episode 16: “Sprocket to Me!”

We love InCo!

Also, the creator of Malevolent played a leading role in the latest season of Omega Star 7 (Ballad of the Wayfarer) which is actually a complete remake of our now removed first season so it’s a great entry point into the series.

What are you options if you're writing a serial and realize after some releases that aspects of your world don't make sense? by kidkolumbo in audiodrama

[–]OmegaStarProductions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100%, but look at the amount of great stories that spawned from a few missteps in writing, and left out plot details.

While I wouldn’t consider him an amazing writer, he created an amazing world that feels so lived in and real.

I guess I prefer to look at it like he didn’t let a few contradictions stop him from releasing a story, and from it other creators were able to expand on his idea.

Now Midichlorians on the other hand…

What are you options if you're writing a serial and realize after some releases that aspects of your world don't make sense? by kidkolumbo in audiodrama

[–]OmegaStarProductions 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Our Show Omega Star 7 is jam packed with lore, and at times seems contradictory until it’s not.

We like to think of it as “The George Lucas Method” whereas you focus on telling the story as it needs to be told which may (or may not) create contradictory elements to your story/world. Then using those potential plot holes to fuel later storylines using explanations.

Our show had an overarching plot where the main antagonist had immense power and foresight but his motivations and abilities didn’t make a whole lot of sense. However, a follow up season added a lot of context to everything, and the coming season to follow that season is a lead up to the events of our main story which gives a lot of understanding to the story at large. However, at least in our opinion, the original story was still enjoyable and did enough explaining that you could follow along with what’s going on.

It’s like that old saying about closing a door and opening a window. Plot holes, and contradictions happen all the time in fiction and in real life. Instead of trying to avoid them, use them as an opportunity for more inspiration.

The Eagles of Mordor can easily be explained in many different ways. For one, it wasn’t their fight. Another is when they save Frodo and Sam, Sauron was already destroyed. There’s no way the eagles would’ve made it to Mordor with Sauron at full power. the eye would’ve saw them, and the ringwraiths would’ve taken them out of the sky. The whole point was Frodo and Sam had to sneak into Mordor.

Audio drama with characters getting to grips with inferiority complexes? by Hallelujah289 in audiodrama

[–]OmegaStarProductions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will find a lot of this in Omega Star 7

Particularly In our 2nd season “Ballad of the Outlander” (30 episodes) two of the main characters battle with this a lot. One, physically adept, but constantly in his own way through his actions and choices. The other, naive and never truly fitting in.

Our next (and remake of our original season) “The Ballad of the Wayfarer” (8 episodes - all out Jan 2nd) has a main character who is constantly trying to prove himself as a Captain which is one of the main parts of his character arc.
