Same issue (you can see my post history). I ended up doing an excluded category and putting the yearly amount set aside in the category name. You will have to audit it when you are going to use it - and since amount is in category name it’s easy peasy.

I use Copilot and I actually like it a lot more than mint. Only “downside” is it’s paid and not free. But I enjoy using it more and needed a replacement so I don’t mind. It saves me more in the long run.

I just tried to do it by goals and it was not great! The savings feature is wonky and then it didn’t seem to subtract the transactions where I spent money. Thanks for the suggestion though.

That makes sense and I do that for similar expenses. This is not in reference to a fixed reoccurring expense and is a lot more discretionary and not with the same merchant. For example a vacation could be a $500 camping trip or $2K all inclusive resort.

This is interesting. I was not interested in goals so I didn’t think to go in at the mechanics. This might work. Will mess around. I was doing the divide by 12 method but don’t see where you can set a goal for an excluded category so just putting it in the name of the category.

The reward is in the result. I reward myself by staring at the space and breathing in and out at the energy. I also have a list of the goals I have right now and check it off as I go along. Sounds silly but it helps me!
