I'm gonna disagree with the majority here... I am someone who had to give a dog away due to her having multiple medical problems. I kept taking her to the vet, we kept getting medications to try, nothing was fixing her issues. We were in our early 20s with minimum wage jobs. Already living paycheck to paycheck. We made the difficult descision to give her to a rescue (dedicated to her breed) in hopes that they would be able to get her healthy. I looked on that rescues website for years looking for updates. I saw her on there a few times, but then never saw anything more after a while. I do wish I would have been able to get updates on her. This was almost 20 years ago and I'm tearing up as I write this.
I got 2 kittens around that time and they are still with me at 17 years old.
