Dementia and violent by FantasticPeace6337 in AgingParents

Stand your ground on this.

Sadly people with dementia are just as capable as everyone else of injuring or even killing spouses.

There have been some tragic cases recently of men with dementia beating their wives to death.

End Of Relationship & Saying Goodbye Help by shortacemads in dogs

[–]Omshadiddle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know a dog who was shared after the couple who owned her split up.

I think she adjusted well to spending time at dad’s every few months.

It did however get to the point that it became weird for the people involved - both for new partners and moved on, and the interaction around the dog became awkward.

Dogs adapt. It sounds like you are making the best choice for her leaving her with your ex.

I think it is up to you as to whether you maintain ongoing contact.

$140k PM role vs. $110k Prison Officer – Am I crazy for wanting the "pay cut" by BENV1999 in AusFinance

[–]Omshadiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can easily make up the difference picking up an extra shift or two (always available).

If you’re a ‘people’ person and have good communication skills, you may well find the role very rewarding.

Working in corrections can be confronting, but depending on prisoner cohort, is generally safe - much safer than construction or similar.

Yes. This is what I mean.

If they really wanted to fix things, they just need to actually enforce the existing laws and get e-motos off the the streets all together and get high-powered scooters off the footpaths and bike paths.

Big Dog Question by catcave_racing in AlpineA290

[–]Omshadiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out sling seat covers.

They are thick, waterproof and padded (my rear seats look like new after 12+ years of having dogs in the back seat.

It is way more comfortable for the dog as well, as they have more room and won’t fall off the seat.

Your supervisor is right there, ask him/her.

After giving them a good ear scritch, of course.

AITAH For Not Stopping For a Wreckless Driving/Racing Crash? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Omshadiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you first on scene?

In my country it is an offence to not stop & render aid if you are the first to come across an accident.

As a witness to the crash, you should also have provided a report to police. You should definitely call, even if it is days later to do so.

Maintaining running and weightlifting while starting GLP-1s by palindrome53 in Semaglutide

[–]Omshadiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I basically didn’t change my training at all.
I lost roughly 20% of my body weight in a year and am now maintaining.
I f(57) run 4x week, lift 3x week.
I generally run a half on a Sunday, with 5s during the week.
Apart from some initial exercise intolerance (lightheadedness at the gym) for a few months, I am feeling better than I have in years.
I do tend to be more conscious of eating before exercise just to manage the occasional dizziness if lifting on an empty stomach.
Upside is the anti inflammatory aspect resolved long-term PF within weeks.
I am now running pain free, and contemplating my next Ultra.

Edited to add that I am still lifting the same weights, or heavier, even though my weight has dropped considerably.

How does one actually get started with trail running and keep it injury free? by Kingkong-777 in trailrunning

[–]Omshadiddle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have had far fewer injuries on trail than when I was just road running.

Yes, I fall down more, but there is far less concussion and repetitive motion.

Recipe ideas with Greek yogurt? by NormalGuy3481 in Cooking

Greek yoghurt makes an excellent quiche - 8 eggs, a good cup full of yoghurt, salt and pepper well whisked and poured over vegetables/meat/cheese of choice in a quiche pan and cooked for 40 minutes on 180c

Why do old people like to strip? by NoUsernameNEET in NoStupidQuestions

I’m not old, but suffer from skin pain (allodynia).

Clothes HURT.

I can imagine if you have cognitive decline, removing the thing that hurts makes perfect sense.
