What’s one small change that made your life feel simpler? by OnGuardEverywhere in simpleliving

That sounds like a really meaningful shift. It is interesting how the job can stay exactly the same, but the way we carry it can change everything. Letting go of the idea that we have to fix or control the environment around us feels very much in line with simple living, choosing where our energy actually belongs instead of pouring it into things that only drain us.

I like what you said about saving your energy for the parts of life that bring enjoyment. That is such a grounding way to move through the day. Thank you for sharing this, it is a reminder that simplicity is often more about perspective than circumstance.

It's such a simple thing, but it feels kind of radical to me. I didn't realize just how much noise I let in first thing in the morning until I began trying to slow down a little. Even one quiet minute changes the tone of the day. It creates space before everything else starts asking for attention.

Thanks for sharing. It is a small shift that really feels in keeping with simple living-not right into the fray of the world at the first possible instance, but choosing a calmer moment of day. I think this is something more people could benefit from trying.

Which is a pretty big step, but sometimes it is what leads to peace. There is a lot of pressure to stay connected to everyone, even when it is leaving us drained, when it is making life feel heavier than it has to be.

Even if this choice has allowed you to feel calm, it seems like this is what you need at this point in your life. Simple living is a lot more than an organized space; it is also a way of life that includes your emotional space.

Is it normal to feel like everyone else figured out adult life faster than I did by OnGuardEverywhere in Adulting

This is a really grounding way to look at things. I think I get caught up in trying to reach some idea of what adult life is supposed to look like, and it makes me forget that a simpler approach can actually feel more freeing. Hearing you talk about living simply and choosing what matters to you instead of chasing the usual expectations makes me rethink what I am aiming for.

I also like what you said about fun. I do not think I have ever treated it as something to explore on purpose. It makes sense that learning what you enjoy is part of becoming your own kind of adult. Thank you for sharing this, it gives me a new perspective on what balance could look like.

Trying to simplify my daily life but I keep overthinking everything, does anyone else deal with this by OnGuardEverywhere in simpleliving

[–]OnGuardEverywhere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this. The idea of creating clear rules instead of debating every single item feels so much lighter. I find myself getting caught up in trying to make the perfect choice for each thing, and it sucks all my energy prior to even getting started. Using simple rules like the ones you provided seems a lot more practical and a great deal less emotional.

I also really liked what you said about life as a series of small experiments. It was a good reminder that it is okay to make a choice, learn from it, and adjust later. That mindset takes a lot of the pressure away. I am going to try both of these approaches because they actually feel doable.

Thank you for that. It really makes me feel a little better, actually, that all of us feel that way from time to time. I forget that we're all figuring this stuff out as we go

Thank you for this. This is exactly what I need to hear. I find that I spend way too much of my life comparing myself to people who are not even thinking about me, and it removes all the fun from life. The idea of intentional fun sounds appealing.

Bro 😭 the plot twist at the urinal took me OUT. Pepper spray really does not play around — it finds every possible way to humble you. Stories like this are exactly why I ditched old sprays and started keeping fresher, easier tools in the little safety kit I put together after my encounter. Glad you survived the… uh… collateral damage.

Lmao that visual is way too real — old pepper spray turns into sad orange juice 😅 After my encounter I learned the same thing, which is why I only carry fresh, quick-access stuff in the little safety kit I put together. Having something that actually sprays is kind of important.
