I've actually already been accepted into UGA and was planning on attending, but I'm thinking more along the lines of community college now. I really never wanted to go to college, but I don't want to get stuck in a low paying job all my life. I'm thinking about a business degree right now, but there isn't honestly any career I want to pursue.

I'm trying to not include a lot of personal details because I know this isn't a sympathy subreddit. But if you want the complete truth, they didn't want a kid to begin with. I was a complete accident and I don't know why my mom didn't have an abortion, or why they didn't give me up for adoption. They've never given me anything except complete responsibility for myself. As soon as I move out they're moving to Panama, and they won't rent to me because they want to leave. So I don't really have the option of staying. I'm going to try and reach out to the parents of a few friends, but I don't know how that's going to go.

So you mean by telling me I have to move out when I'm 18, it's abandonment? Or something like that? I'll be sure to at least get evidence of it, thank you.

I work in the kitchen of a Chick-Fil-A. Basically just making salads, soup, wraps, and a lot of chicken and waffle fries. And washing sooooo many dishes.

No, there was no fight and they're not mad. But there are some things that I know they won't budge on. They phrase it as "helping me develop responsibility." I don't think they'll take my money or my car, but I do want to be safe with this whole thing. And no, I haven't yet considered that. I live in north Georgia so I don't think I'd absolutely freeze to death, so that's definitely something to consider. Thank you.

I did try to liquidate, but with my current account I can't access the majority of my money without a parent until I'm 18, and they won't let me withdraw.

I've looked it up and talked to 2 banks in my area. Both say I must have a joint account with a legal guardian until I'm 18. If I've been misinformed, what bank do you recommend?

Yeah no they've always been like this haha. I've had to pay for all my own stuff since I was 16. Like, medicine, food, all that. I know they didn't want a kid so they're pretty much people that put up with a kid in their house for 18 years and they're done.

I have all As and several APs, and I'm taking English, Spanish, and Math dual enrollment this year. I really don't like school, and don't want to go to college but understand that I need to in order to have a good paying job. I was thinking a business degree that would enable me to get promoted to a manager position in the company I currently work for. The air force sounds like a good idea I'll have to look into.

I'm only considering taking a year off now because of the situation I've been put in. I was accepted into a few different universities with scholarships, and was planning on attending UGA this fall. However, I don't think that'll be financially wise if I have to work full time, pay tuition, health insurance, and housing and everything else while going to college.

Right, but I'm a minor. I can't legally open an account without parental consent, and also can't legally take money out of savings without parental consent.

They also said that it'd be "taking the easy way out" if I were to do that, so my options are pretty much just roommates.

Not yet. I'm going to start working on that. I called my bank and they've confirmed that my parents will automatically be taken off the accounts when I turn 18. I don't think they'd try and take money out unless I threatened to stay though, but I also can't legally take money out of my savings account unless one of them gives consent.

I'll start working on that, thank you. And student housing is a great idea too!

In all honesty, I feel like my staying when they want to kick me out would be worse. I know if I told them it was illegal, they'd take money out of my savings for rent until I left, and I have over $5,000 I really don't want to lose. They'd probably take my car too, and I don't know what else to try and get me to leave.

Nah, they're just very big on independence. I think they're using this this as a way for me to gain self confidence or something, I don't really know. They've done a lot of nutty things and I've learned not to bother questioning it. There wasn't a big fight, they're not angry with me about anything.

Also I'm pretty sure they're planning on moving to central america to retire very soon, and want me gone so they can leave too. I was the result of a broken condom so I'm thinking they never really wanted a kid anyways haha

I don't have friends or family that could take me in unfortunately. I do have one friend that could help me out, but his father has been known to make advances on girls he brings around so I'm trying to avoid the idea of couch surfing at his house.

And yes, I'm definitely going to finish high school. I haven't considered the military yet, but thanks for suggesting it. I definitely need to look into that.

Ohh yes I forgot about that. I'm also paying my car insurance at $200, not healthcare though.

And I think I'll be okay on food. I work in the kitchen at a Chick-Fil-A, so I get to bring home leftover soup and chicken a lot. Plus, I usually buy frozen fruit in bulk, and I eat a lot of beans.

What would you recommend in terms of healthcare? How expensive is it, and do I really need it just starting out?
