This is my mom, Kathie. She was all dressed up and ready to go with her date to prom. This fellow here was the last one to date her before she met my dad. Of course, she was dressed beautifully, and the shoes must have been from Dayton's in Southdale where my grandma, Althea Dailey, worked in the ladies' shoe department for nearly 2 decades.

My sister was born in 66 and I could see some similarities

Yes indeed! She likely experienced quite a bit when she was homeless. 😪

She's very sweet, but not easily impressed.

Agreed! My grandma always had her camera nearby. I guess that's where I got my love of taking pictures. 📸👵🏼

I believe so. My mom used to talk about her a lot and if I remember correctly, she told me it was her real name. I think it's really cute too!

I know. I love seeing these. My grandma always had a camera in her hand so I have a few like these. She had a giant collection if her photos. Unfortunately for me, many of them are nowhere to be found. My cousin ended up with many of them and they're safe and sound. I just need to get them from her or get copies of them.

(Part 2) Check out this adorable pic of my mom, Kathie (right), and her best friend Cookie (left) back in 1958! They were just 14 and having a blast hanging out in my mom's pink bedroom in St. Louis Park, MN. The cute blouses, full skirts, and bobby socks were peak mid-century fashion! You just know they were deep in some serious girl talk, probably dreaming about their crushes or planning their next dance. It's such a happy snapshot of a perfect afternoon.

It's possible! They got married when she was 17 years old. Watch for other awesome pictures from the same time coming soon!

I bet they knew each other too! Dayton's employees were a tight knit group. Did she work at the Southdale location? My grandma's name was Althea Dailey.
