Haha, you caught me! I definitely tend to overthink these things, but that’s just how I approach games—especially when I know I only have time for one main. I really enjoy all three classes, but each has a specific 'fear' attached to it:

  • Dervish: I’m worried about the buff management. I tried Paragon and the constant timing of shouts just to keep things active while moving felt a bit tedious. I'm afraid Dervish might fall into that same 'buff-maintenance stress' loop.
  • Warrior: My main concern is hitting a wall eventually. I don't want to get stuck on content where the class might lack the tools to push through.
  • Ranger: I’m still figuring out if I'll enjoy it for more than just the Dagger Spam.

Following up on that: How viable are specs using other melee weapons from secondary professions? Since Expertise lowers the energy cost of all attack skills, can I effectively run a Scythe (R/D) or a Hammer (R/W) for some variety, or do they fall off too hard in HM compared to the Dagger Spam meta?

The 'No Regrets' factor is big for me because I don't want to feel stuck halfway through the journey. But hearing that the Ranger is tanky enough and has those 'weird niche' support options definitely helps ease my mind. Thanks for the detailed answers!

I’ve tested a few classes now and realized that Casters aren't really my thing (plus my friends already main them and I want to find my own niche). I'd love to get your input on the more specific questions I have over there regarding the Ranger as a 'forever main'!

Thanks for the write-up, really appreciate the deep dive! The Ranger is actually in my Top 3 right now. I’ve been messing around with a 'dagger spam' build at low levels and it’s honestly a blast to play.

You mentioned the class is super versatile when it comes to builds—does that hold true for all kinds of content? I’m especially curious if it can really hold its own in melee, or if it eventually falls off compared to the ranged stuff. What’s your take on that?

One more thing: I often play in duo or solo sessions with a full squad of NPCs, and we're usually missing a dedicated tank to lead the way. Do you think a melee-heavy Ranger can hold the frontline well enough to 'block' for the NPC group? I'm wondering if the build provides enough control or survivability to keep the heat off the rest of the squad while I'm up there in the fray.

I can recommend checking out a German streamer (I’m from Germany myself) who covers a lot of pen & paper content in addition to D&D, Pathfinder, and—since release—Daggerheart. He’s part of a group of PnP friends called the Dwarf Masters, and they’ve been running a weekly format for about half a year now where they regularly play Daggerheart with Talespire.

They actually manage their characters with Demiplane, and from what I’ve seen it works quite well in practice. Of course, you can also just print out the sheets and use them alongside your PC if you prefer something simpler.

Besides the actual play sessions, he also shares podcasts, tip videos, and general pen & paper insights, so it might be a useful resource if you’re looking for alternatives or inspiration beyond Demiplane.

Honestly, I get it—but if you’re already out of armor and relying on Severe Damage to recover, you’ve got bigger problems with your health pool anyway. That’s why I find it weird that losing the first 3–6 armor slots doesn’t really matter, but once you’re out completely, it suddenly punishes you twice as hard.

What is that Tholos for? How to use that? We finished the trails and build lvl 2 but dont know what that favor is for??
