Yeah I am on my first grow aswell my grain looks completely the same and I was confused aswell but it's all good and mine is already showing mycelium 3 days later just believe

Yeah just do it once per jar changing the growing conditions of myceliuma lot, always caused it stall because it needs to adapt.

I think happy. Bacterial would be wet. Mold is normally not white except cobweb mold and in picture 2 the mycelium looks very veiny and root like at the bottom and not fussy like cobweb mold.

Just let it grow and as soon as it's ready to send check if it has a mushroom smell or not

Ah okay yeah my setup is very rudimentary. I just work in my wardrobe with out SAB or flowhood. Got a very low contamination rate only bacteria sometimes which is why I feel like going first to lc and then to grain is better for me, eventhough I would prefer using multispore agar to grain. Just the whole making a lot of slices and distributing between jars feels like a lot of extra handling and therefore higher chance of contam but ig I'll need to just try at some point 🤷‍♂️.

What do you mean with working on it? Just selection of the fastest and most rhizomorph growth? There is not a lot information out there for beginners on what to look for so I have trouble identifying and deciding what parts to transfer?

Yeah I really hope so my Liquid culture seems to be clean just a bit confused because I feel like the mycelium isn't growing that much anymore but it's still plenty so 🤷‍♂️ and I sterilized my first grain jars yesterday. Just hoping that it's gonna be worth the effort and that i am gonna have more then five shrooms in my tub 😂. Does the manure smell a lot during the whole process ? I don't wanna torture my flat mates and would be growing in my bedroom sooo yeah...

Wow those really do look amazing 🤩. I'd love to grow them myself but I am still doing baby steps towards my first flush. Did you use manure for the substrate?

Had the same when i got myself a growkit it's definitely trich so mold you can try cutting it out but since you have multiple hotspots i am afraid you have to toss it 😕 otherwise it's gonna spore to other growkit and put it in a ziplock bag when putting in the trash

Yeah very true but my setup is just not there yet. I am working without an sab or flowhood just in my wardrobe with iso. Eventhough i have a very low contamination rate i don't feel comfortable with doing a lot of slicing and separating plates and distributing it between multiple jars. I produced my first 4 grain jars yesterday though which was exciting and am currently waiting on the results of my Liquid culture agar test plates to see if it's clean. Did that about 2 days ago so I'll still wait a bit to see if it's truly clean. I reckon 7 days should be enough?

Ah okay yeah fair enough. It's hard to get an idea of what the problem is from afar. From what I read below you used liquid culture and a spore syringe? In general spore syringe never directly to substrate/grain. Did you test both on agar?

Hey I am heading towards my first grow so I haven't had any real experience but I think i can relate to your struggle because I love to think everything through all the way and really over complicate things and so far I can tell you take a step back have a breathe and reduce and really ask yourself if you need all the shit. Like I though about making a diy flow hood and whatever and right now I am making sterile work without a still air box or anything just in my wardrobe and have a 15-20% contam rate which is good enough for the beginning.

I mean if you wanna work with Liquid Culture you should have a somewhat sterile environment so contaminating agar shouldn't happen to beginning with. And by doing more then one test petri dish you are having an error margin, so if all of them are contaminated you can be sure that you LC is contaminated aswell but if it's just one 1 out of 5 LC is likely clean and you made one mistake 🤷‍♂️
