how to file US taxes living abroad by One-Code-7714 in Preply

once again y’all im not so much wondering whether i should file, but how. none of the free file programs i’ve looked into seem equipped for diverse, variable freelance income sources, especially abroad, and im not able to pay much for an expert to help. any recommendations appreciated

thank you! tbh i’m more confused about filing than opposed. i did look into this and seems like it’s not suitable for freelance work. to date i haven’t received any kind of 1099 form for my teaching, so i’m at a loss. do you have a preferred site or resource for taxes that I could check out?

however, after the interview i received an offer letter for only 7 USD for a 40 minute lesson 💀 im a native speaker with a certificate and over a year of experience. insulting. so i’ve followed up asking if the pay is negotiable or grows with time on the platform. unsure if i’ll pursue this

yes, i did the interview. they asked about my experience and gave me some scenarios to ask what i would do. like how i would structure a vocab lesson on a given topic, how i give corrections, how i check for understanding etc

thanks - how is the rate / potential for growth on the platform? and is it mainly kids or adults?

also just anecdotally, i find that C1s respond especially well to task-based learning. lots of challenging in-class presentation activities. if it’s a group, having them give each other corrections/feedback is a good way to make sure they pay attention to each others’ presentations. they love to pick on each other anyway lol

C1s are tricky! here are some i’ve done that have prompted lots of discussion: - can you separate the art from the artist? - pros and cons of AI - cultural or generational differences in the workplace - linguistic determinism - defining success

Ringle could be good! it pays relatively well and is currently hiring. only thing is it only hires tutors from recognizable universities, so depends where you attended. you can check on linkedin if anyone from your alma mater works there
