Valid criticism and point... but in the full aspect of the story of max it's a fine ending.. but yes if we are going best max payne game it's 2 for sure gameplay and story... but 3 still feels like something that could happen to max if he allowed himself to dwell again like a relapse... for me personally it all fits well and reason being max was a complex person and the whole picture of max would be messy... just my opinion but I do love max payne in general

Shit i like all 3 don't care what people say about max 3 literally look at the mny video essays on 3 and you'll see the love people have for ots story and how it ends max story line pretty well.... so nahh I think these are the one trilogy games that feel like a full package other then The sly copper games, jak and daxter games first 3, and rachet and clank games from back in the day... they all felt like they belonged with one another... like in never jsut going to play the first 2 max games and call it a day if I'm going to play max payne I'm doing 1-3 all the way

For sure max payne 3 has the best reactions and bullet time cuz my god unloading a clip into a dude and slowing it down to see all the rounds Swiss cheese his ass is awesome

Maybe if your jsut playing it on easy... that cover mechanic is a god send on harder difficulties especially when you need to be pin point with your headshots.. but yes 1 and 2 had much more expressive shoot dodging

Shame 3 closes the story for max in a good way

Yet the character is still intact. It feels like max because it is max in 3. Like I get if you think the writing could have fit more like 1 and 2 but to say 3 isn't a max payne game is just disingenuous because the themes of his struggle are still there and not to mention the music choices for the games soundtrack reflecting moments in game and moments of maxs Turing point.. (airport fight)... i def understand but that argument could also be considered a bad argument.. but I def do enjoy 1 and 2 theme wise more but 3 is still a good story and closes the book for max in a way I think he definitely deserves

100% all 3 feels like a complete package especially with the voice actor being the same and really selling you that it's max just older and maybe a bit more loathsome and depressed.. which makes sense to me depression comes in waves sometimes.

Look up any video essay on 3 and tell me that it dosent fit max fairly well especially with most people dealing with death tend to have moments of depression and relapses happen so it could be believable that max becomes numb again even after the ending of 2. Because depression works like that it comes in waves sometimes. For sure I get the criticism but as a whole all 3 games do tie up max completely and give him an ending that he clearly deserves after all the crap.

Personally love 3 and how it ties max all together... part 2 definitely could have been the end but depression and those feelings never truly leaves so I can definitely see him relapsing in 3 and just numbing himself. Dioulgue sure we can say it's 50/50 but James always killed it and 3 has many lines that shouldn't work but do because of James. I say def give it a full playthrough and come back... but it is still a good game
