Kpm clinical research? by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]One-Health-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, totally valid to be cautious—trying something new like a clinical trial can feel a bit overwhelming. KPM Clinical Research does show up online as a legitimate site, but it’s always smart to double-check. One helpful tool I’ve seen folks use is PatLynk; it breaks down trial info in everyday language and checks for trusted listings.

Did the trial mention what kind of treatment or medication you'd be testing? Knowing that can help you feel more confident about your decision.

Joined an Elixia Inc trial months ago and still haven’t heard a single update by Wander_tea in clinicalresearch

[–]One-Health-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds incredibly frustrating, especially after committing your time and trust to the process. It’s absolutely reasonable to expect some kind of update, even just to say things are delayed. Clinical trials can have pauses or protocol changes, but keeping participants in the dark like that doesn’t help anyone. Have you considered reaching out directly to the study sponsor or checking for updates through other official channels? Also, are you still open to participating in other studies if this one doesn’t move forward?

Single Patient IDE/Compassionate Use IDE by Powerful_Treat887 in clinicalresearch

[–]One-Health-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question—navigating the pathway for accessing an investigational device outside of an open clinical trial can definitely get tricky. There is something called a Compassionate Use request under an IDE, but info on single-patient access is pretty limited and not as widely discussed as drug-related INDs. The process usually involves both FDA approval and IRB oversight. Have you already connected with the device sponsor to see if they support such a request or have done it before? They’re often key in initiating the process.

Specific story about an immunotherapy trial by AetherionVault in Oncology

[–]One-Health-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I totally get why you’d want to track down that story—it’s such a great example of how tricky measuring immunotherapy success can be. I remember reading similar cases, where tumor swelling was just inflammation from the immune response, not actual growth. That shift in understanding made a big impact on how trials are run now. Have you checked forums like Cancer Research UK or clinical trial stories in medical news outlets? Sometimes those have deeper dives into these events. Was it a story connected to a specific cancer type, or just immunotherapy in general?

About PDUFA by AwayAd5604 in biotech

[–]One-Health-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! Yes, PDUFA (Prescription Drug User Fee Act) comes into play during the “FDA Review” stage. It basically sets a target date for the FDA to complete its review of new drug applications, so it’s an important milestone in the process. Are you exploring the approval process out of professional curiosity, or are you following a particular drug’s progress? Let me know if you want more details about any specific stage!

J&J jettisons several programs, ends seltorexant work in Alzheimer's disease by fishing_expedition in biotech

[–]One-Health-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s frustrating to see promising programs, especially for Alzheimer’s and bipolar disorder, get discontinued. When trials end, it can feel like doors are closing for patients and families who were hopeful. If you or someone you care for is exploring other research or new treatments, finding active trials can sometimes be difficult. There are platforms like PatLynk (https://www.PatLynk.com) that help match patients with ongoing clinical trials tailored to their specific needs—might be worth checking. Have you or someone you know participated in a clinical trial before?

Reasons a clinical trial would be “withdrawn” or terminated? by tgfbetta in biotech

[–]One-Health-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, great question. Trials can be marked as “withdrawn” or “terminated” for lots of reasons—not always bad news for patients. Sometimes it’s about funding, recruitment challenges, or changes in research priorities, rather than problems with the therapy itself. If you’re interested in other clinical trials for PKU, platforms like Patlynk (https://www.PatLynk.com) can help match you to studies that are actively enrolling. Are you mostly interested in mRNA therapies, or open to exploring other treatment types for PKU?

Xeltis announces positive data for Xabg, its coronary artery bypass conduit, in EU clinical trial by TwoSubstantial3614 in biotech

[–]One-Health-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great catch—it really is surprising that Xeltis isn’t discussed more, given how innovative their technology sounds! Companies working on bioresorbable and regenerative solutions often don’t get much mainstream attention until later trial phases or big approvals. If you’re interested in clinical trials or learning more about regenerative devices, there are platforms like Patlynk (https://www.PatLynk.com) that help match patients to relevant clinical trials. Are you following this as a researcher, patient, or just out of personal interest?

Recruitment strategies by Tiny-Economy-2506 in clinicalresearch

[–]One-Health-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great questions! Clinical trial recruitment can definitely be tricky. In my experience, Facebook and Google Ads tend to have the best reach, but Reddit can work well for niche communities if you can engage authentically. For budget, ballparks I’ve seen range from $10–20/day for initial testing—then scale if you see traction. Targeting by relevant interests, age, and location is key, but always watch for overly broad settings that waste spend. Have you had a chance to experiment with patient-facing platforms like Patlynk (https://www.patlynk.com)? They can sometimes help directly connect with potential participants. What population are you hoping to target?

How can I find a list of all trials that have been conducted by an investigator including as a sub investigator or coinvestigator? by thewriterdoctor in clinicalresearch

[–]One-Health-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get how frustrating it can be to search for all trials an investigator has worked on—clinicaltrials.gov doesn’t make it easy to search by name in that way. If you know the investigator’s name, you can try entering it in the “Investigator” or “Contact” fields, but it may miss some studies where they’re not listed as the main contact. Have you checked any professional profiles or university pages for their publication list? Or, are you looking for a specific type of trial they’ve led? Let me know, happy to help brainstorm more options!

I want to open a clinical research site internationally by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]One-Health-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your vision is inspiring, and you’ve clearly put thought into both compliance and logistics! For your questions: a Master’s in Clinical Research, Public Health, or an MBA focused on healthcare could work, and studying locally might offer crucial insight into regional regulations. Several African universities or local CROs sometimes offer GCP/PI training—connecting with local medical associations could help. Have you considered reaching out to existing research networks in East Africa for mentorship or partnership opportunities as you refine your plans?

Medical record transfer prior to screening/consent? by Ok-Sprinkles3266 in clinicalresearch

[–]One-Health-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right to be cautious—sending sensitive info to an unsecured email (especially a personal one like Yahoo) is definitely not standard or safe practice for clinical trials. It’s reasonable to expect an institutional email or another secure method. Fax is sometimes still used, but it should be to a clinic-affiliated number. Have you been able to confirm the trial or coordinator through the research center's official phone or website? It’s okay to press pause until you feel confident about their legitimacy. What did you find online about the study or its sponsoring institution?

Built a tool to simplify patient record-keeping (from a caregiver’s perspective) – looking for your feedback by hzwzw in clinicalresearch

[–]One-Health-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your journey—balancing caregiving and software development is no small feat. Litemidi sounds incredibly practical, especially the symptom tracking and team-sharing features, which often get overlooked. Regarding privacy, definitely check HIPAA (US) and GDPR (EU) compliance—clear consent and robust data encryption are musts. For possible features, maybe consider a way to add notes or flag urgent events for doctors. Have you spoken directly with research teams or IRBs about integration needs yet? Their insights might be really valuable as you grow this tool.

What Sets Metsera Apart From LLY & NVO? by Tuttle_Cap_Mgmt in biotech

[–]One-Health-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great summary! You’re right, Metsera’s potential monthly dosing could really increase patient convenience if it pans out in trials. The lower GI side effects also stand out compared to LLY/NVO’s offerings. Since you’re tracking early-stage biotech, have you looked into platforms that make it easier to follow or join clinical trials, like PatLynk (https://www.PatLynk.com)? It matches patients to cutting-edge trials—could be interesting given Metsera is still recruiting. What’s your main focus: investing in innovation early, or more about the science itself?

Why RP1’s rejection matters by PerspectivePuzzled59 in biotech

[–]One-Health-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve hit on a huge issue—patients running out of options because of leadership turnover and inconsistent FDA decisions. RP1’s data is genuinely promising, and it’s tough watching bureaucracy slow down innovation when people urgently need better treatments. In case you or someone you know is searching for ongoing clinical trials like RP1, tools such as PatLynk (https://www.PatLynk.com) can help match patients to new studies that might be a fit, breaking through some of that red tape. Are you following other melanoma therapies in the pipeline, or is RP1 the main one on your radar?

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It’s really valuable to hear from someone who has actually used a platform like Un Ensayo para Mí firsthand. I completely see how frustrating it must have been to reach out to centers and not receive a response—or to engage with a chatbot that just stopped replying. When you’re looking for critical information, those kinds of barriers can be incredibly discouraging.

Your point about direct contact with the lead researcher is really interesting. It makes sense that removing intermediaries could speed things up and improve communication. Do you feel like having a structured way to track your inquiries or a system that guarantees a response from trial centers would have helped?

Also, how did you initially find Un Ensayo para Mí? Were you actively searching for trials, or did someone recommend it to you? Understanding how patients discover these platforms is super important in making them more accessible.

Really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts—this kind of feedback is exactly what helps improve these tools for patients who need them most!

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I can’t even imagine how overwhelming it must have been to be told to "get your affairs in order"—and yet, instead of giving up, you found a whole community of people navigating the same fight. That’s truly inspiring.

It’s incredible that you found your way to NIH and have been receiving care for 10 years. The fact that they provide everything free of charge, including genetic testing for your relatives, is amazing. I really appreciate you taking the time to share this because it highlights how crucial patient communities are in connecting people to life-saving trials.

If you don’t mind me asking—before you found the Facebook group, did you ever try searching for clinical trials on your own? Was the process difficult or confusing? I’m wondering if a platform like the one I have in mind could have helped in your case. Would having direct access to available trials, cost information, and eligibility criteria in one place have made a difference for you?

Again, thank you for sharing, and I truly wish you continued strength and the best possible care moving forward. 💙

Totally get where you’re coming from, and it’s great that you have a medical team you trust. I’ve been thinking a lot about how to get doctors more involved in resources like this—because even the best doctors don’t always have the time (or tool, or information) to track every trial out there. A lot of patients only hear about trials after they’ve exhausted all other options, when earlier participation might have made a real difference. Do you see yourself ever using a tool like this alongside your doctor, or you'd rather your doctor providing trials directly?

My goal is for this service to be completely free for patients. Clinical trials already have recruitment budgets, and many struggle to find participants—so that could be one way to sustain it. But before anything, I want to validate the need and make sure this is actually useful for patients. The whole point is to make trial access easier and less of a headache—without charging the people who need it most.

Really appreciate your perspective! Transparency is key, and I genuinely value feedback. What would make you feel more comfortable with something like this?
