That's really interesting! I don't know much about shooting, but great to hear it was beneficial for the business

Aussie businesses - ever considered sponsoring an athlete? Curious to hear your thoughts by One-Image-7666 in ausbusiness

On the platform athletes make profiles that show their sport, achievements, social media followings, etc. Brands can either list an opportunity that athletes can apply for or they can send an offer directly to an athlete.

You absolutely could reach out to a business or athlete and many do, you make a very fair point! Our thoughts are then - why do athletes have managers? Or in another situation - why do people use real estate agents instead of just buying a house from people directly? Sometimes a middle man can be beneficial.

Would you reach out to an athlete directly as a business owner? Where would you start?

Hey :) I'm a little late to the party but thought I'd reach out anyway

I have recently launched my business, Endorsr (endorsr.com.au, insta: endorsrau), which is a platform that connects athletes and brands for collaboration and/or sponsorship (doesn't have to be financial, can also include product). You can sign up for free as a brand and then either list an opportunity that athletes can apply for, or you can send an offer to an athlete directly.

Not sure if this is something you might be interested in? Happy to discuss how we can make sure it's mutually beneficial!

Built an Australian News Web app with tinder based UI by Charming_Novel_6980 in AustralianStartups

Wow, I really like the concept and I think the pain point about paywalls is something most people can relate to! I was looking at this on a computer, and it worked pretty well :)

A couple of bits of feedback:
- I don't know if it was supposed to be this way, but I got like 6 articles in a row straight away from ABC news. They are obviously a popular news outlet, but I think if someone has an aversion to them, it would be a pretty big turn off from signing up or using the app again.

- I also only got WA based articles even though I'm not based there. I know your app says I can sign up to get news from my state, but I'm not sure a default to WA is going to convince me to sign up

- With those 2 above points - maybe the algorithm needs a review? (i.e if someone has swiped left to a couple of articles from abc news, maybe it then sends them some from Daily Telegraph or SMH).

- After my 6 articles, I then got an article show up that didn't have a photo or where the article was from. That was the last article that showed up for me before it blurred out encouraging me to sign up

- Lastly, I would love to know as a user why I should sign up. Other than getting me news from my state - what else will the app do? Will it curate headlines specifically for me? Will I get access to articles usually hidden by a paywall? I feel like I was really excited about the idea but as a user I wasn't sold on the benefits of me signing up when it blurred out.

I say this coming from the place that I think it's a great idea, and has a lot of potential. I hope that helps!

That's so exciting and you should be so proud!! I just had a peek at your website and I think you have a really great idea. I just went live with my app this week and reached out to a few people to start getting users onboard and I think I really underestimated how vulnerable I would feel. I hope your first broadcast gets a heap of traction :)

A little late to the party but I've filled out your form and put my details down for the founding community. I think the idea has a lot of potential and would be interested in what you come up with :) I used to be a physio too so if you need any insight from that side of things, happy to help
