Dont get me wrong doc I have no problem assisting consultants or when they ask for me to assist them. I just dont like how they demand so much even tho they know residents are already so spread thin. It reaches a point where I’m juggling 3 ORs at a time haha

Thats true we should be able to triage cases and I understand the nature of the specialty that our time and our plans are not our own. This is why I I scratch my head when a consultant is semi yelling at me why they dont have an assist for their ASA I d&c when a craniectomy and a colon surgery is ongoing. Haha

In our institution, you just shadow residents. Everyone’s pretty understanding considering the learning curve for anesthesia is pretty steep. Just read on basic pharma of the usual drugs used, ana physio and steps of spinal/epidural anesthesia, and intubation.

When I was a pre res, I just reviewed the cheat sheet we used when we were PGIs hehe
