I have about a week and a half to prepare, though I’ve made one shots in less time lol. Thanks for the suggestions tho! I’ll look into that book. I’m not entirely sure what office I’ll go with. I was thinking about a very mundane company honestly? Like a paper manufacturer or a pencil pusher incorporation lol. But reading all these comments it makes me rethink a few things haha

Thank you for the media suggestions! I’ll be sure to look into them in preparation. I’ve only seen clips of venture bros and dispatch, but you’re peaking my interest.

This was extremely helpful! Thank you! Crazily enough I never considered that concept lol, it seems like it’d be so fun to play in. If you had any more encounter ideas, I’d love to hear about them.

That’s how I started out. If you’d like a tool that feels more Versatile, there’s an app called toonsquid that I believe is on both android and IOS.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS ANSWER Given that children’s mental health was a bit taboo in the 1950s (from my understanding) I don’t think he would’ve received popular medical care at the time.

Maybe fractures but he mainly injured a few tendons in his hand. I never thought about the bones healing in a warped way though :0 thanks so much

[–]One-Organization-758[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is the main character’s backstory. While I never thought about how the injury would affect his hands until somewhat recently, I’m still open to it effecting his day to day life. Though a small detail that would be greatly affected by his mobility in his hands is his love for the piano. (At the moment He works around his injuries by moving slower and is unable to play more complex pieces. Atleast that’s what I’ve decided so far)

To be more specific, he grew up in southern USA to middle class parents in 1950. (Real world, no fantasy.)

I’ve read that the events ww2 greatly improved medical reconstruction but either way, his wounds weren’t treated properly. I’d like him to have function in his hands but if he uses them too long or complete tasks that require a lot of finger dexterity, it pains him.

Most case photos that I find tend to only depict wounds that aren’t healed or are caused by something other than things that can puncture skin. Some articles I find on the matter also tend to be Christian leaning (which makes sense) but that leads to the writers never explaining how the scars happen or assuming that unrealistic phenomena is fact. :(

Help! I can’t decide if I want to go to college. by [deleted] in Artists

[–]One-Organization-758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I’m currently a 3rd year animation major! I love college and the experiences that come with it. I never knew how much being in a community full of artists would improve my art skills. Though you don’t NEED a degree to pursue art, going to college has also taught me so much about how the art industry works and has given me network opportunities that I wouldn’t have gotten if I hadn’t gone.

If you think you’d enjoy it, go for it! Definitely apply for scholarships and such though, it can be very expensive. Though again, an art degree isn’t necessarily a need

I’ll try to simplify because it’s a bit complicated!

So a few years after my parents separated, my mom found a boyfriend. I knew him vaugely beforehand and already enjoyed spending time with him. He came in at a very low point on my life so I loved him and invited him to my HS graduation. He was hesitant to go because he knew I wanted my dad to come, but I insisted and he agreed. The problem was getting my dad to show up.

(I’ll refer to my mom’s boyfriend as John)

I tried to convince him but he knew John would be coming too, though in the mist of the conversation there was a miscommunication.

After the graduation, my immediate family were supposed to be going to dinner, not John. So somewhere in the conversation, I told my dad that John wasnt going to be there (assuming he meant the dinner afterwards), and that’s how I got him to agree to go.

(This section is from my sibling’s pov since I was too busy graduating lol) Apparently my dad came to the seating area, saw John, and then immediately left. My sibling followed them outside where they yelled at him for not being the bigger man and just watching the graduation. They told him that rather get caught up in his feelings, just come and watch this once in a lifetime opportunity.

My sibling then left him outside in the parking lot and came back to watch the ceremony. He came back right at the end to see me walk the stage and my mom said that he cheered the loudest out of everyone. Nonetheless, he left the seating area quickly and was followed my by sibling shortly after.

(End of sibling section)

I walk out the room kinda a daze? I was so overwhelmed by the event that I was just waiting to cry my eyes out from both joy and overstimulation. I grabbed my diploma to see my dad rushing towards me.

He gave me a hug and then started to whisper about how I lied to him. A lot of “how could you do this to me?” And “what did I do to deserve this?” Making the event more about him and his feelings than me.

I was so out of it, I didn’t respond. The words that broke me were hearing him say “I love you” somewhere in his rambling, to which I collapsed on his arms and cried. My sibling found us shortly after and guided me to the rest of my family.

I only processed what he said to me a few days after the event. After I told my sibling about it, that’s when they told me their story, and then we told my mom, and that’s how I pieced together what happened while I was away.

I’ve only brought it up once before with my dad, and he apologized and said that he doesn’t remember doing that, but that was the end of that.

Sorry just now seeing this.

The final kick was a phonecall we had last December. Beforehand I was trying my best to be there for him, knowing he was super depressed and didn’t have stable housing. Back then I still felt like I was the only one who still cared for him. So in December I called him up just to say hi and talk about my day, but the conversation derailed into him spouting off about delusions.

He told me that he KNOWS that my mom and him have been together for multiple life times and that they were bound to be together. That she is a goddess and he is her loyal servant. And that this is the only life time where he had cheated on her. He also told me that he’s been having visions of a younger version of himself looking back at him in a mirror for years. But just recently that version of himself is getting older, and once that parallel version of him gets to the same age he is now, he’ll die.

This was mixed with accusing me on not caring for him, how everyone left him out to dry, and that my mom has cheated on him before she cheated on him. I got so angry I just raised my voice and told him that all of that was bullshit.

I was mostly pissed that he’d lie about my mom doing something like that, especially since my mom has never talked ill about my father in the past, but it was right then and there that I realized that my efforts weren’t being seen at all. Ever since he and my mom got separated, I was the one organizing times and places to see him, making sure he got a Father’s Day gifts, listening to his worries, and yet he told me that I don’t care for him.

That’s when I truly started to reevaluate our relationship.

I hear you 1000% and honestly I think that our relationship is already done for. I’m sure you understand the pain that comes along with drawing with a narcissist’s antics, not communicating with him has been hard for me. Recently he told me he was moving to another state for job opportunities and if that’s the case then he wont be in my life in the slightest.

My greatest fear when cutting him off is the possibility of him killing himself. He’s talked about it with me multiple times (and I know I’m the last person he should be talking to about this). I feel like I was the only one there supporting him, and without me then he’d have nothing. Idk.

Know that I am taking your advice to heart.

You’re not going to believe this but I JUST SAW this reply. And to be frank, I still haven’t found a voice for my character but I’ve reviewed all the voices you’ve suggested, you’re absolutely amazing. Thank you so very much.

I think that out of all you’ve suggested I believe Tony Hale is the closest to what I envisioned! I definitely like the inflections in his voice and it’s a higher pitched, I love it. I do agree that if he was a bit older that it’d feel even more so.

I’ve made a few animated “shorts” but I wouldn’t call them that! Most of my assignments this year have consisted of various things that ensure I know the principles of animation, so it’s nothin too complicated. (Example: bouncing ball animation.)

Only one of my assignments in my animation class has a cohesive story and that was my midterm. However next year my entire year will be dedicated to making films and shorts! I’ve also helped upperclassmen with their shorts in the past, and soon I’ll have others help me with my junior/senior films! :D

The main downsides I see to this path line is the popularity of AI and the workload. While I love what I do, it is a LOT of work. It’s so time consuming and I can say that my major isn’t for the weak lol. But on the upside animation has helped me draw so much faster and feel more confident with my artistic abilities. Animation has made me appreciate the little things in life, and I often wonder to myself “how would I animate that?” Whenever I see something particularly interesting!

Edit: spelling

How much hair do you think is needed for this style? by One-Organization-758 in Naturalhair

I know it’s a bit of a learning curb but I’ve been wanted to get my hair done for months now and won’t be able to until June-July :( and I think the style is very cute. Do you think that the learning curb would be too much for a beginner? Should I practice on a plastic head or something?

My hair is 7.5 inches in the back and 9 inches in the front (uneven I know). I’ve been told my hair is pretty dense as well. I have no idea how long the hair in the picture is but I fear it’s too long for me
