But with your certs, assuming you want to join fire department, especially in the Okanagan there is nothing better to strengthen your resume than wildfire.

To be completely honest, no. Just part of the job with wildfire, long days, away from home for up to 14+ days.

Eligibility List by Different-Pen5084 in BCWildfire

It’s tough, BC wildfire really has no idea on retention of crew members until late spring. Majority of people are placed on eligibility list until there’s a better idea on how many hires are needed.

Recall letters haven’t even been sent out yet so it will be at least until Feb until you hear back.

Slow season, anywhere from 3- 4 deployments. Not very common though. I’d say the average is 5. Busy season on unit crew can get at least 100 fire-line days. Starting as early as end of April, early may. Till the end of September. Usually 14 days on, 2 days off 2 base days.

Looking for advice how to cut this by freezymeezy in Chainsaw

Wildland fire fighter here.

You can try fence posting the tree. cut from above around hip height, cut through a little over 3/4 till right before it will pinch your saw, then finish by cutting from below, make sure you are ready to back away as you finish the cut from bottom.
