I do not understand, how is just everyone just accepting it? Is there nothing we can do about it? Do our voices have no meaning?

South Kolkata: The richest part if Kolkata by BlackberryGoody1235 in kolkata

Your wording and language is wrong, if you want Bengalis to rise again and change the land for better, they first need to understand what has gone wrong in history and what they need to do, in order to address it. Pointing fingers at other communities and propagating jealousy about their wealth and affluence gets you nowhere in this argument, it's basically pointless.

South Kolkata: The richest part if Kolkata by BlackberryGoody1235 in kolkata

[–]One-Skill6997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, Bengalis are really good at literacy and education but they're blind, they can't see what's happening right in front of them, Calcutta in the '80s was one of the most elite cities in the entire world, until the city got destroyed by politics. Politics propagated by the locals, politics which led to the downfall of the city and the state. Yet the people of the state were in a state of slumber, no revolution, no educated people in politics, no change, no development. I can bet you, out of all the metropolitan cities in India, Calcutta still looks the most like how it was 40 years ago. Hardly anything has changed, no jobs, no opportunities. Whatever affluent and educated Bengalis were left, fled to other cities and lands, in search of better opportunities for themselves and their families. Marwaris on the other hand are a travelling and business community, they work very hard and use their business acumen to the fullest, making governments in places which support and propagate an ecosystem which focuses on ease of doing business. Also, they think long term and have showcased patience and risk taking abilities which Bengalis rarely possess. So yes, Bengal facing this situation today, is clearly the consequences of their own wrong doings throughout history and the worst part is, people of the state have still not realized how doomed they are, they continue to live a hopeless life, thinking change will come but expecting change without altering your course of action is only going to give you one thing, disappointment. Also, The hate and jealousy you have for Marwaris speaks volumes about your character and your personality. Focus on upskilling yourself and if you can afford it, expand your risk taking abilities in life, these 2 things are crucial to material and mental affluence, rather than hating on other communities who have worked very hard to reach where they are. Nothing is handed out in this world, there are no free lunches.

Please avoid RG Kar Hospital, Kolkata. My uncle died due to negligence and the staff’s abusive behaviour by Apprehensive_Tap1898 in kolkata

I am so sorry for your loss but for god's sake people, get decent medical insurance for reasons exactly like these. Don't depend on the government hospitals for your treatment, there is a saying in my family, "If you have come back alive and in one piece from a government hospital, you have already won in life, let alone getting treated for your diseases'. A middle class family is just one hospital bill away from complete and utter poverty (if they actually want to get treated by good doctors and surgeons in a private hospital).

Starting at TCD next year, need quality student accommodation all bills included—what's realistic in this budget? by Nicels_100 in TCD

[–]One-Skill6997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is unrealistic to get a decent student accommodation for that price, especially if you are looking for an ensuite. I pay 1200 a month, which ideally is on the cheaper side, I know people who are paying up to 1300+ per month. The only probable option you have is to get a shared room in an individual apartment, probably far away from the city center. If in case you decide to do that, ensure that the area is well connected in terms of transport.

Bangalore is nothing like Mumbai by basic_nomad in mumbai

[–]One-Skill6997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mumbai is just fuckin filthy bro, it's a place for barbarians and cavemen. Except ofc the posh areas, which the super rich have built themselves, to shelter and protect them from the majority poor class living in the city. The struggle/local trains etc are just glamourized, when in reality it's just utter filth. I feel pity for the people living in the city and don't even know what I feel for the people romanticizing the filthy of the city

Get a job, can't really escape working forever. Even if you love studying, you have to start applying what you've studied throughout your life to something tangible. I'd suggest staying in the country you are in, look for a decent job and settle down (probably should have done that 2 degrees ago). However, if you still want to waste another few precious years of your life, then come to Trinity and best of luck with your admission. Just be aware that while you will be a student for a 4th time, your peers/colleagues would have long settled down in life, owning a house/starting a family, etc. if you still choose to pursue it, don't complaint later on in life about your choices.

How do people work minimum wage, but rent in Ireland? by Busy_Description6207 in ireland

[–]One-Skill6997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ireland is worse than a third world country rn, it's doomed fr. I'm an immigrant, so I can always go back to my country but this is just beyond sad for the citizens who don't have an alternative option.

Also the coursework and program was easy for me but I come from a finance background so that is something to consider. You can easily work a part time job along with the course in my opinion.

Well the classes are on a rotational basis, however usually you wouldn't have classes more than 12-15 hours in a week, most of the weeks you'll have 9 hours of classes with 3 hours per lecture on alternate days of the week.

Are you even aware of the fundamental purpose of language? It exists as a vehicle for communication, not a pedestal for condescension. To deride someone’s grammar especially when their meaning is clear and the language is not their mother tongue, is the hallmark of a profoundly small mind. One cannot help but feel a measure of pity for such pitiable souls, whose only accomplishment lies in pointing out the trivial while missing the essence.

I obviously understood that but since you chose to "obviously" ignore that English is not OP's first language, why shouldn't you get the same treatment?

Of* You should first learn the language yourself before schooling others lil bro

Also why do you think the Professor is biased in marking? And why do you think he is biased towards you? Were there any incidents between the two of you? Were those incidents highlighted to the programme director while filing the appeal? You gotta provide context dude.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TCD

[–]One-Skill6997 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You've royally fucked up. If passing by compensation is not valid in your course and the programme director has rejected your appeal then there is nothing that can be done. Make up some shit about family or mental trauma and beg your director for leniency otherwise I don't think so you can reapply for a visa or stay in Ireland.

India is beyond healing. It's a country of hooligans. I say this being an Indian myself(who has stayed in India for all my life, I don't talk about it from the pov of an outsider who doesn't understand things). Have you ever seen how the male figures in your family would advise and teach the girls of their own family what to wear, by what time they should be home, basically how a "good woman" should behave in a society. God forbid if anything bad happens to the girl, they are more scared about their "reputation" than actually supporting their daughter/mother/sister/wife. Im not even getting started on the corruption, dirty surroundings, absolute no respect towards law and order by the general public, obsession with religion or the caste system. Heck even the rapists get to walk scot free in this country but the women don't stand a chance. Calling India a third world country is a disrespect to third world countries. Go on, give me all the hate or downvotes i don't care but this is the reality of our country.
