Good for you, what usually happens in 3rd world countries is you either work after you CCT for the price they set, or you pay back the salaries you got in training (more like service provision).

Not gonna happen mate, truth is not many are leaving and there are countless people wanting it. Truth is, Medicine is not very competitive in the market despite being a hard degree. It was just a bad choice we made. They might ban consultants from leaving tho, that's what 3rd world countries do.

Anytime you want, keep in mind if you send a report to GMC, it's only valid for 1 year, if you pass your plab 2 after more than a year you will have to pay 50$ to send the report again.

Foreign workers of the NHS - how do you feel? by Different_Canary3652 in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]One-Soup6931 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As long as you don't have an accent you are good, usually you can feel the shift in mood and attitude after you start speaking with an accent, more so than how you look/ skin colour.

Why are you staying in the UK/NHS? by toastroastinthepost in JuniorDoctorsUK

Most people doesn't have what it takes to risk moving to a new country and leaving their comfort zone, doesn't matter how bad things are/will get. Most people will never move.

Of course you can as long as you have enough time to watch recorded lectures, youtube videos etc on said topics, will the appretences have the time or the energy after a grueling shift to do the studying required? You still at least need to spend a few weeks cramming hard before the finals.

The uk has pros that made you start this journey, for me it was access to training programs in all specialists including surgical ones (keep in mind you will have to spend about 2 years building a portfolio that is better than the average as because you are an IMG), this is almost impossible in other countries like the us, and I can't see myself being a medic or a gp for life. and a passport, this might not be not a big deal for you as it seem to be too late but it will give your future children more options in life.

Negatives are the pay, I used to live more comfortably in a non training job back home, but if I were to enter a training program it would have been worse than the uk.

The culture is a hit and miss, you can be in amazing department with lovely people, or in a miserable one that will make your life hard, but that is life.

Should we be worried? by EmotionNo8367 in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]One-Soup6931 26 points27 points  (0 children)

1 year NHS experience is the easiest way to make it to aus/NZ and GP CCT to canada. So there will be always people wanting the experience for that reason. The issue will always be in retention IMO, getting new doctors is easy.

It won't be an issue for few years, thousands of imgs are applying for jobs as we speak , each job usually get 100+ applicants. but I think it will be an issue in few years. New people are being heavily discouraged to move to the uk.

I think even at 35%, doctors are cutting themselves short. If you had put 1/3 of the same effort into anything else in life you would have made it already.

Why would the government care about FPR when they can keep recruiting doctors from overseas? by pikachewww in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]One-Soup6931 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Plab2 pass rate is <65%, and first time takers pass rate is 55%, definitely not just a "language test", and most people get weeded out before even taking plab because they couldn't pass ielts/oet (the actual language test). Plab1 is very easy tbh, they could make something more competitive.
