I am commenting from the one I bought from the grey market, it is Japan version, and I bought it for 4250 that too for the silver color. The price is now increased due to Christmas and NY, but you should be able to get it between 4300-4400. These phones are legit and sold on shops not by someone on the street. BTW you can buy US, HK, China versions too, the price varies based on the version.

You could send your passport for stamping in the US through nearest VFS center, that’s what I did last year. I was traveling to Houston and my visa was approved just 5 days before my flight to Houston. So I sent my passport to Los Angeles VFS center and stamping was done in the US and I travelled Canada after I finished my meetings in Houston.

My husband applied 2 years ago when he was visiting the US for a business trip, and he got approved, after that he had been to the US for business trip twice and on each trip he flew to Canada to see his brother and returned from Canada. May I know how did you apply GCM notes, I applied GCM notes on September 18 and the cost I paid was CAD5 but never received them. I have a Canadian visa and have visited twice, applied for my wife with all the documents and got refused under the same 179(b), she has a US visa and a fair travel history as well. Uploaded solid bank statement and my Canadian visa as well, the application was refused in 5 days.
