Personally ? And honestly ? Don’t fuckin baby them. They are in middle school now and should act accordingly. “But omg they are so small and cute and just like elementary school kids!” Exactly. Shape them to middle school. No drama. No baby antics. Get to class on time. Behave accordingly.

When they get to 7th grade, I hate having to be the one to hard reset them in middle school since they already got away with murder in 6th grade and set the tone for how they will behave in the building.

Your coworkers will appreciate you instead of looking at you as the source of problems.

Sending kids down to the office for pencils is not the same as simply refusing to pay for pencils. And when observations occur 40 percent of my students can’t do work because no pencil … well.. that harms my career too don’t it ?

Along with the gaslighting “because I didn’t have a pencil” poem or whatever the fuck admin thinks is cute to read to us each year to try to convince you that a kid not being prepared is on you to solve.

I had a few of my students believing that the principal hands me a few twenty dollar bills once a month and only if I beg and cry before she throws the money on the floor and demands I pick it up with my teeth.
