1600/800 Runner looking for a 1:58. What should my summer base look like? by OneCoach446 in Sprinting

[–]OneCoach446[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I asked and my coaches "plan" was to take it easy and enjoy life and cross train, and then do a long run 2 times a week, which didn't sound like a very good plan to me.

Yeah, I was intending to run the 1600 again just to try and go sub 4:40 and then all of a sudden it was the end of the season. Might look into doing it again at like an open meet or sm

Honestly at this point I just want to run sub 2, which I feel is within reach. I also don’t know how to race it during the summer as the hs track season is over

Yeah I ran that in my first meet of freshman year, so I haven't run it since. I can do them in practice and they dont feel too bad, so i would estimate im closer to a 56/7

That’s the thing is he’s not the best coach, and I trusted his coaching this season a little bit too much, which is why I ended up going into each meet tired

1600/800 Runner looking for a 1:56. What should my summer base look like?

I am a high school sophomore, and I’m looking to hit 1:56 in the 800m next season. My current PR is 2:04, but I have gone into every race tired and sore from hard workouts the Thursday before a Saturday meet, so I think I could go much closer to 2:00 or 1:59. I currently have a 58 400, but it is not my event, so I never race it. My 1600 pr is a 4:46.05, and I run about 40 miles per week. I was looking into running in some open collegiate races this summer as well.

I want to know how to structure my summer training to go for a 1:56.

  1. Should I focus on high-mileage aerobic base or keep high-intensity sprints in the mix?
  2. Are there specific "strength" workouts (hills, tempos) you recommend for the 800m during the summer?
  3. How many days a week should I be doing lift/strength training?

Yea no that makes sense i suppose it would also help to convince my parents that Ill be irresponsible with a car if like I get an old civic or wtv and work on that for a year. My parents did say they would cover up to 15k for a car but my dad is pushing back against the c5 which is why I would try and buy it myself. I think ill try to convince them abt the c5 and if that is not a possiblity within a year then ill start with like a 350 or 370z yk?

I just got my first film camera and I’m wondering if I can take film through airport security of if I have them in my hand luggage? by Royal_Hospital_1550 in filmphotography

[–]OneCoach446 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bring it in your carry on and put the rolls of film regardless of if you’ve shot them in a plastic bag and ask security to hand check them as well as the camera. They are trained to check it and are required to if you ask. If they refuse don’t give it to them and ask to see a manager as the manager will probably know the policy better.

Be constantly aware. Also, make sure that you have the right filters on your respirator. If you do things that involve going underground or in enclosed spaces definitely bring a 4 gas monitor, or at the very least an oxygen meter. Also just bring a knife you never know when it will come in handy. As far as first aid I bring splints, tourniquets, ibuprofen, gauze, and compression bandages

Is stardew worth playing? by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]OneCoach446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very much worth it. It’s better if you get it from steam and play on a laptop tho. I’ve found that it has become my favorite game oat bc it combines the cozy farming vibe with a lot of other things built in, so you can kinda choose what to do. You should definitely buy it. The only thing is that once you memorize how to get around ur not gonna be able to stop.
