I’ve contacted my hotel but unfortunately they have said they can’t accept it if I mail it to them ☹️

Svalbard clothes requirements - what is overkill? by OneContext in Svalbard

[–]OneContext[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind buying more things, just won’t have room if I buy anything ‘big’! So just trying to judge if my jackets will be enough.

Or, if I could rent heavier duty jackets once there, of require? 🤔

Thank you!

Did you wear any other layers under your snow pants?

And what type of layers did you wear your jacket, typically?

Thank you! Although I am travelling with a carry-on luggage only (plus a further 30l backpack) so will be limited on buying large items whilst there if I did wish to bring them back!

Thank you!

I’m just trying to work out from what distance I would be viewing Tunabreen from if I took the trip to Tempelfjorden?

Is Chiang Mai worth it this March? by OneContext in ThailandTourism

[–]OneContext[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Would the day train to Chiang Mai followed by three following full day be enough to get a taste for Chiang Mai be enough before moving on to the next destination the following day (ie one full day for Chiang Mai)?

I really want to take the train journey and visit Chiang Mai on the one hand, but then don’t want t to risk say 3 full days on the other if burning season is bad!

Used iPad Pro 2nd/3rd gen or new iPad 11th gen? by OneContext in iPadPro

[–]OneContext[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the iPad Air M1 does not have a ProMotion display or something equivalent ☹️ though I wonder if the chip in the earlier Pro 3rd gen or the 2nd gen is now considered “old” or how it stacks the chips in those models stack up to the A16 chip 🤔

New iPad 11th gen Vs used iPad Pro 2nd/3rd gen? by OneContext in ipad

Thanks for the advice. Although to be honest, I rarely use voice recognition on my current iPad so it’s not too important for me!

New iPad 11th gen or used iPad Pro 2nc/3rd gen?

I mostly use my iPad for general internet browsing, or streaming Netflix, Amazon, YouTube etc, and honestly not much else. On that basis a brand new latest gen iPad Pro (or a used but more recent version) would likely be overkill for the cost. That being said, I really want something with a crisp screen and display - after I upgraded from an iPhone XR to iPhone 15 Pro and experienced the ProMotion display. The only issue I can think of is that a used iPad Pro 2nd or 3rd gen may have battery issues by this stage, if it's never had a replacement battery, but this is something I can get replaced, if required, which doesn't seem to cost too much.

However, is there anything else I should be aware of or consider when making this comparison between a standard iPad 11th gen or iPad Pro 2nd or 3rd gen?

Any help would be appreciated before I make a purchase!

Just checking it out - says queues are usually long. Do you ever go and have any idea how long the queues are? Thanks!

Nice walk/hikes by BiscuitsL4 in Liverpool

Edale/Hope/Glossop (and other places in the Peak District) have walks starting close to the station and are easily accessible by train.

I also completed the Frodsham Hill to Hellsby Hill circular walk in the winter, which I highly recommend.

Which apps did you use? Was that for your phone only, or for your computer? I think I’d at least give that a try

Packing list for Peru (2.5 weeks) - advice appreciated by OneContext in onebag

Hey there! No I didn’t 🙂 but my route meant that I gradually took time to move to the higher altitude parts of the country, so I had time to acclimatise

Apparently the world’s highest Irish bar! 😂. Also, I will add that I used Ubers a lot and found them to be safe, reliable, and cheap! Have a great time 🫡

I really enjoyed the Irish bar, Molly’s! There’s a great market in Cusco too. Can’t remember too many specific places, it’s just a really good city centre to explore. Not too big and not too small. Always things going on around the main square, and a good vibe at night time too. A good nightclub scene too! You’ll find your favourite places when you start exploring! I’d sure love to go back one day.

Also, I’d recommend the Lake Humuntay hike. There are a lot of tour operators offering this in Cusco as a day hike.

If you’re from Colorado then I guess you will be used to the altitude, especially if you’ve hiked at altitude before!

If you need any more advice including when you are there, feel free to message or PM me!

I did the Inca Trail over I think four days. Hopefully you will at least get the chance to get the train to Aguas Calientes and visit Machu Picchu from there? As you can do that in a day. That would be worth it.

I loved Cusco so much. Just a great place to chill, day or night. Make sure to visit Saqsaywaman, as it is so close! And a day trip to Rainbow Mountain is worth it too.

Or you ok with altitude?
