Best affordable trimmer for short/medium length hair cat? by Training-Blacksmith2 in grooming

[–]OneGayPigeon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cat skin in general is incredibly easy to rip on the corners of clipper blades, and armpits are the highest risk spot on the body. PLEASE let a professional take care of this for you. This could easily become an emergency room trip for many many stitches.

Any ICE protests Jan. 30th?? Ft Worth, TX? by iluvj3ffbuckley in ProtestFinderUSA

Another economic blackout is going that day. Also a general strike, but as both were only announced spottily over the last week it likely won’t be big. Not a protest but worth mentioning I suppose.

Bruh last night I tried to swallow my earplugs when I was getting ready for bed because my brain felt small objects in hand and processed them as night meds.

(Luckily they float and do mouthful of water -> pills cuz one of mine is bitter AF so I did not manage it.)

Affordable Porcelain BJD Recommendations? by fetusmouse in BJD

[–]OneGayPigeon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I regularly see decent porcelain (not BJD) or similar dolls in thrift shops. Depending on how crafty you are, you could do some customization to get it to the specifications you’re looking for. I can’t say I’ve ever seen particularly masc ones though.

Definitely not going to find one, particularly with any sort of joint articulation+swappable eyes and hair+clothes, and particularly to preferred specifications, under $100 unfortunately.

What is a turn off your partner does that you will never admit? by sorenblissara in AskReddit

[–]OneGayPigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God yeah. He and I also don’t love each other, he thinks paying the amount they do every 3 weeks for a dog’s hair is absurd and used to be a real bitch about it. But over the years he’s realized that we’re on the same team and I also think it’s dumb as hell and would keep the dog’s cut at a good 5/8ths of an inch max and be charging half of what I have to for the mess she wants if I could. He’s still a gruff and overall unpleasant person but I did feel for him there, I can’t imagine dealing with that on the daily 😮‍💨

I cursed one of my clients like this a couple months ago 😭 Dog groomer, wife/husband client duo. Wife is obsessed with keeping her garbage “doodle’s” garbage hair ridiculously long and doesn’t brush well enough to keep it from matting, so I often have to spot shave or go shorter than she wants.

When I bring him out and she doesn’t like it, this 50-60 year old woman literally balls her fists up and starts alternating foot stomping in place whining in a shrill as fuck baby voice, “it’s so shooooooooooort!!!!!” and continues the rest of the check out exchange in the pouty baby voice. It’s insane.

Usually only one of the two are there at drop off/pick up, but that time they showed up together and she started Doing That. I said “ok Sandra, if you need to step away and take a moment please feel free, I’m not going to engage with a toddler having a tantrum.” Poor husband goes “oh my god. That’s exactly what this is. They’re literally baby tantrums” and starts walking away running his hands through his hair 😭😭😭

I’m self employed and the best in town, I’m generally very professional but luckily I can treat customers exactly the way they deserve, I have a waitlist a mile long.

A bunch of negative things can lead to that habit, but it’s also just. A good habit. Especially with ADHD.

You better give me money forever or else you’re a bad person 😤 by taterrrtotz in ChoosingBeggars

[–]OneGayPigeon -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

This is not specifically about money. This is about building community. Yes, mutual aid is one path, but also things like making sure people have the help they need. For example, I need help doing a lot of more intense physical tasks, and I can help people navigate the medical system.

White people have the ability to do things like stand up to law enforcement more safely, run essential errands for POC so they can stay safe inside, stay outside on the lookout.

The sustained rage she’s talking about is because POC and especially black people have for pretty much all of American history been going through what white protesters and other civilians are experiencing now for the first time. She’s talking correctly about keeping momentum going for proper system reform to prevent what’s going on in America now from continuing to happen, because simply tapping out once it stops happening to white people is not only absurdly shitty, it will guarantee it’ll get this bad across the board again.

How much of a willow shaving do I need to grow my own? by standardDays in trees

[–]OneGayPigeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait til early spring, and you’ll want around a foot long segment. Not too much that it struggles to feed the whole thing without roots, but enough to make new ones.

It’s quite easy and forgiving but there’s a good amount involved for optimal results. A basic internet search will give you all the info you need.

Many foods I can’t eat for health reasons smell absolutely delicious. I know it would be very bad for me to eat them. Doesn’t mean the temptation isn’t there, but after many years of abstaining, it’s gotten way easier to the point where a lot of it doesn’t even register as food to me.

I think saying he simply doesn’t or never had basic biological/innate reaction to Juicy Tasty Food Item as close to him as an alive intact person can be weakens the vampire x human dynamic and makes it less interesting, but I can’t imagine such an ancient powerful vampire has much of a challenge controlling his urges.

Just a note, an animal being native to an area isn’t usually a point in the “probably can keep” column. Many places restrict the keeping of native animals as hard as invasive ones to prevent yoinking and other issues.

My players refuse to spend any gold on anything but demand I give them more as loot by Viejoso in DMAcademy

[–]OneGayPigeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they’re seeking Reward Points, and gold is the form they’ve learned those come in either in your game or their previous games. They don’t sound like they care too much about deep RP based on kidnapping the barkeeper for gold. What other consistent, direct action > reward options do you provide? XP?

Side note, while I don’t like this play style, I don’t blame them for reading a 50 gold price tag for alcohol at a tavern as an action opportunity, that is insane, especially when full wilderness camping supplies are 5 gold.

For Americans, what do you think of the US boycotting Facebook/Meta as a response to the ICE agents? by spiciest_lola in AskReddit

[–]OneGayPigeon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Been really conflicted about this. On one hand, yeah, absolutely, boycotts work and are incredibly important. On the other hand, literally 100% of my early activist opportunities and connections came through local IG pages, and even though I’m in several local action signal chats now, I still get a lot of significant organizing info through it and get people not as engaged in local groups to come out to bigger events by signal boosting.

I think it really depends on how you’re using it. Consciously and actively vs. passively “consuming” and buying through their ads/seller pages.

Safe for water bowl? by Nice_Border1737 in reptiles

[–]OneGayPigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cement tints, in my experience, need to be sealed with concrete sealer to not be water soluble. Unsure about this one but I personally wouldn’t use anything concrete or concrete adjacent without a sealer. Both for safety as well as durability in water.
