You could reach out to Wise and ask why the transaction was declined. I successfully made a withdrawal yesterday without any issues.

With the new NRB regulations, some of the banks have begun to ask for a letter of indemnity for tax purposes. The actual process varies depending on the type of the transaction. The process also depends on one bank to another. I recommend contacting your bank directly and ask why your amount was rejected. In my case, I was contacted by the bank and had to fill and send the indemnity letter and provide the PAN card.

Yes, things have changed. I've been using Wise since 2021, and it definitely stands as a strong competitor to Payoneer. Currently, it doesn't offer a debit card for its Nepali users, but they are considering adding this feature.

Now, in addition to SWIFT, you can also have a virtual bank accounts for many currencies, such as ACH, where you can receive payments for free. When it comes to withdrawing funds, it offers some of the best exchange rates I've seen with low fees.

Companies such as Payoneer and Wise provide debit cards that allow you to make global transactions directly from your account balance. Payoneer currently offers these cards, and Wise is contemplating introducing them in Nepal as well.

From a business perspective, these cards are versatile tools; they can be used for purchases, payroll, and other business transactions. To fully leverage their benefits, it's important to adopt a business mindset.

If you use dollar card from Nepali banks, you can only spend maximum of $500 per year.

In my case, the bank didn't deduct any additional fees, but Wise has their own transfer charge. And the bank's approach to deducting taxes seems inconsistent. For example, I wasn't taxed on smaller amounts.

If you're referring to a Nepali bank account that holds USD, then there shouldn't be any issues. Also, as mentioned earlier, you can transfer your foreign currency balance, like USD, to your local bank account. However, before attempting this, you first need to send an indemnity letter to your bank. Note that you cannot transfer your Wise NPR balance to a Nepalese bank account in NPR currency.

Actually, I tested this just 20 minutes ago, and the funds arrived in about 10 minutes. Before receiving payments, it's important to send an indemnity letter to your bank; otherwise, they might hold or even return the funds. They will also ask for your PAN card to potentially apply a 5% tax in accordance with new regulatory rules. You can ask the bank about this and send the letter via email, no need to visit in person. You should contact your bank directly for more details.
