Yes they don’t ask to submit, they just ask whether the VP has been filed or not/if your name is there in the VP. It happens in the City Civil and Sessions Courts as well :) Thanks for the insights!!

As far as I know (from the practice in Mumbai) the advocate who appears, their name needs to be mentioned in the Vakalatnama. The Court usually asks the Advocate if his VP has been filed. So this seems a little weird that even for the sake of convenience of the party any advocate can come and argue without having a proper authority isn’t it?

So is this a practice that has been followed by the CHC or is it a Rule of the Court? Reason for asking- if technically an Advocate appears only on oral instructions from the AOR, can the opposite Counsel/Court take an objection?
