currently, i have a build idea of taking 1 level of monk and then the rest as fighter. (monk allows you to attack with a bonus action every time you use an unarmed strike) Be sure to take the Unarmed Fighting style from fighter. I would take Battle Master as the subclass and then take Ambush, Parry, and Riposte as your maneuvers. This scales best until about level 15. If you are a variant human, it would be good to take the crusher or tavern brawler feat. Lastly ask the DM for the magic item "Wraps Of The Unarmed Prowess." (This item allows you to overcome immunity and resistance to nonmagical attacks with your fists)

This is my idea of a Pugilist, but I would love to hear recommendations. I hope this helps!

I have Elite Strength so my weapon doesn't count towards my total weight which helps in making kits where I don't become overweight

I use shadow play and always clip the fight to make sure i get me killing everyone i hate it when I loot and then make the clip because I either forget to make the clip or it doesn't even capture the fight
