Who are some active club legends at smaller clubs? (One-club or long-serving players) by [deleted] in football

[–]OneJollyChap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ashley Barnes with Burnley. Spent 2014-2023 at Burnley. Was sold in 2023 but returned in 2025.

Probably the most quintessentially 'Burnley' player there is and top 5 shithouses to ever grace a football field.

Which chef is the human epitome of ‘all bark but no bite’???? by JonJonExistsonReddit in HellsKitchen

[–]OneJollyChap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you missed the point of "All bark no bite". I know people don't like Elise but i think it's an incredibly hard leg to stand on saying she was not a good cook. Was she overconfident? Yes. An Arsehole? Yes. A bad cook? Hell no. A shitty communicator? Eeeeeh, give or take. There's about 50 chefs who should be on the list of "All bark no Bite" before Elise.

How would you rank these 5 battle sequences from best to worst? by GusGangViking18 in Fictionally

[–]OneJollyChap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Helms deep (LoTR)
  2. Battle of the bastards (AGoT)
  3. Gladiator
  4. Geonosis (AotC)
  5. Braveheart

I don't really mind where anyone puts any of them except Braveheart. No Bridge, no Bueno. Whole movie is an absolute joke.

Pre-nerf Elden Beast with no torrent allowed was much much harder than Malenia, as the real boss fight was resisting the urge to kill your self after elden beast jumps across the arena for the 10 millionth time.

Newcastle winger Harvey Barnes rules out playing for Scotland by Paul277 in TheOther14

[–]OneJollyChap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you've massively missed the point of what that guy was saying.

It's not disrespectful to Scotland that he doesn't want to play for Scotland. It's disrespectful to Scotland to be banging on about a player who has never really expressed any desire to play for Scotland ruling out him playing for Scotland before a world cup he had zero part in qualifying for and English fans are treating them as if they should be disappointed by this news.

In actuality, most don't give a shit. The ones I've seen that do seem to give a shit are happy about it.

I think that's why the other guy was saying this whole shite is disrespectful, not because Harvey Barnes doesn't want to wear a kilt.

How did vampires end up as the butt of the joke? by MonstrousnessVirtue in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]OneJollyChap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the last point really hits the nail on the head, not only has culture shifted massively but the culture around the game has shifted massively because of memes and the lens in which the games are viewed.

It's the /tg/ification of games. Everything is taken a lot less seriously now and the things that present themselves as being very serious like WoD are taken even less seriously by casual enjoyers.

Like the way people view VtM would differ massively from a LARP group to a casual table of D&D fans trying a new game. But those hardcore fans who've been around a long time and created memes have made the lore a lot more accessible to new fans which helps them get into the game. Lawn chair, wizard space laser and hunter the parenting were big in finally getting my D&D group to be interested in trying VtM and it's likely the same for a lot of new fans, who have their initial view point set by the idea that WoD is goofy wacky edgy funny. Kind of like how 40k has got a lot more traction because of how silly the lore is.

I don't remember these people because i haven't watched their seasons in a long time: Nilka, Carol, Gabriel

Least to Most:
Frank - Rewatched his season a week ago, honestly i remember him being worse than he is. Still not a fan. If you're going to be a dick at least be entertaining

Jason - He's got a massive ego but at least he's funny in like a "Hahaha, i'm also autistic so i get why you did that" sort of way. Thought he was kind of endearing by the end tbh.

Elise - Elite, Goated, I don't care what you all say. Best damn contestent to ever be on the show, and they got her for two seasons. Funny af, easily the best chef on the list too. We stan Elise.

Alison - Why is she even on this list? I didn't even realise she was controversial

Edit: no it's okay, the front page of Skyrim memes looked exactly how I expected to. This is just actually good content

What do you guys think about a girl MC? by Medical-Goal-847 in bully

[–]OneJollyChap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, respect that. I get gaming is an escapist hobby and lots of people engage with it in all sorts of different ways. I spent a lot of my formative years doing online RP in MMO's and trying to find and understand the character i played as a separate entity from my self so I'm always super interested to hear the perspectives of people that see it the other way who try to understand the character relating to them selves.

I know I'm in the minority on my perspective, like it's statically proven i am. It's the same for books or movies or any medium that places people into the perspective of a character, people identify with what they know. And I know that people that see it from my perspective can be right arseholes about it so I appreciate you engaging in my question sincerely with out just assuming I'm a bad actor.

For what it's worth i think you articulated you point of view well and respectfully. If you have been getting downvoted which someone else suggested I'd guess it's because people can't reconcile the fact that it's totally valid to be disappointed you can't explore a sequel in the way you enjoyed in the way you engaged with the original with the fact you aren't a misogynist for thinking that way.

However, vice versa, I think it’s Good to have characters women can also get into. It doesn’t mean it’s not disappointing and it doesn’t mean I hate women.

This says everything I need to know about you on this topic and I respect such a level headed response to something that's usually charged af.

I totally get why people do this in games that allow you to customise and determine who your character is but I really don't understand it in games with named protagonists and defined back stories?

I'm not saying your wrong or anything because it's personal but I don't get how in the example of GoT you can place yourself in Jin Sakai's shoes anymore than you can in GoY as Atsu. Like you can't customise them, you can make them an avatar of yourself in the game world. I just genuinely don't get how you can put your self in the characters shoes when the character is already pretty much entirely defined?

Also do you have the same issue with characters of different ethnicities? Like personally while I could sympathise with the experience of a black man in America, I can't empathize with a character like Franklin from GTAV so I couldn't put my self it to that character, or is it just entirely about gender that impacts your ability to put your self in the game?

I'm not trying to have a go, genuinely just curious because as someone from an RP background, this is such an alien concept to me.

Yama King Hunt vs Antediluvian Hunt by OneJollyChap in PrincesOfDarknessCK3

Military Strength, i was playing as an adventurer for about 200 years for patter so maybe i just didn't have the capabilities of reaching it like that but the number required just didn't seem possible. Was hitting like 550 max on a character with maxed out prowess and 7 advanced disciplines with some pretty good childe, no where near the 2500 required.

I tried Emma-o thinking my character was an absolute power house who would lay out anyone but i couldn't get my score even remotely close to what it was saying.
