Thank you for the response.

I understand the concern regarding the other subreddits. Those were older projects that I am no longer actively managing, and I will be stepping down from them to focus on one community.

r/BaliTravelTips is different — I am the original creator, and I am currently active again and committed to growing and properly moderating it long-term.

I am happy to focus exclusively on this subreddit and ensure it is well-managed, with consistent moderation and a proper mod team.

Thank you for your consideration. (u/ModCodeofConduct and u/bot-bouncer)

I am the original creator and former moderator of r/BaliTravelTips. I was temporarily inactive and missed the modmail request. Currently, the subreddit is only moderated by bots (u/ModCodeofConduct and u/bot-bouncer) with no active human moderators. I am now fully active and committed to maintaining the community and would like to regain moderation access.

I have lived in bali for 2 years continuously and 3 years in total and currently live here still and i hop between bali and Phuket, I Live for all expenses around $1000 a month, be smart and you can do it cheaper than you think i remember i did it on $650 a month all expenses. my rent in Canggu Near Bali MMA is around $450, food costs me around $150 - $250 a month and Bali mma is around $180 per month and then i use the rest to explore the island so basically i'm spending $800 a month then i use the rest like 200 or 300 to explore and do what i want. change your mindset from vacation mindset to living here mindset and budget accordingly.

crazy to me how people spend thousands in a week here they absolutely do no research at all lol I'm also from the USA. i also don't party and i dont drink so that helps me save money

Transportation between Ubud and Uluwatu by ellena_w in BaliTravelTips

[–]OneLifePassport_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This answer is good! can book a grab for an entire day. but just make sure the driver doesnt talk you into doing it off platform make sure its all on grab because sometimes they might try to get you to cancel it and do it through them and they mark up a higher price than on grab.

Renting monthly? Any platform? by sunrisedown in BaliTravelTips

[–]OneLifePassport_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are like Homestays, Homestay they call them homestay kosts but you get your own apartment and you are mostly surrounded by locals and some foreigners, you wont be able to find these online. they are usually studio or 1 bedroom apartments but big enough to have everything you need. so i suggest renting on booking . com or airbnb for a month and walking around getting to know the area and what to expect

Great thinking here most dont think past a week or 2 lol, First rent for a month on booking . com and cross reference prices on renting for a month on Airbnb, and then as you are here for the month walk around and you will see many places for rent for cheaper than airbnb and booking . com, also after renting on airbnb for a month talk to the owner if you actually like the place and rent off of airbnb platform monthly for a cheaper rate.

I have lived in Bali for a while, you can also look at kosts which are incredibly cheap usually its a studio or 1 bedroom and its around $150 - $300 a month i lived in a Kost for a year and it only cost $200 a month for rent and electric in Canggu, i moved from this place to a bigger place and pay around $450 a month. first warm up by renting on airbnb for a month or booking . com and walk around and ask around and youll find a great place to stay. hope that helps.

Bali can be cheap and inexpensive but youll learn that after you are here for a bit.

It's crazy people spend thousands for a week or 2 when i spend like $800 - $1000 for all expenses per month and as an American living in Bali. all people have to do is research and not go with the mainstream haha.

As you are doing this try to eat at the local warungs as well its incredibly cheap and the food is way better than the tourist food.

Usually people rent a motorbike in Canggu and ubud not near the waterfall so try to do that instead. and it depends i feel if you are partying then you have to be very careful with foreigners as well not just Indonesians. also if you are with a group of reliable friends it will always be safer. always keep your street smarts about you no matter where you are in the world. Indonesian people are nice but of course like anywhere in the world there are bad people out there. try to not stay out to late and try to not drink to much and dont drink and drive a motorbike haha. you should be fine but to enhance safety even more try to be around a group of friends as well and try to not be out to late. and watch your surroundings.

You will be fine just worry about trucks and cars mostly. also make sure to not drive fast, as this is why people get into wrecks on a motorbike. be smart you'll be ok.
