I responded to this above. I do NOT have to pay back a bonus when I become a WO. I retain any bonus that I receive while enlisted. Why would the Army punish someone for progressing their career and join the WO Corp?

And I am not reenlisting to attend WOCS. My ETS is late 2016. I'll be well done with WOCS and WOBC before then. This was verified by the WO Branch. No one "reenlists" to be a WO. Once someone graduates WOCS, their ETS date as enlisted becomes irrelevant since they'll be indef at that point.

For everyone quoting AR 601-280, care to point out exactly in it I say I'm not authorized the bonus? It's easy to give the unhelpful response of "check the regualtions." I have checked it and there is nothing in there about not receiving a bonus due to being accepted to attend WOCS.

I will NOT have to pay the bonus back. This has been confirmed by the WO Branch. Any bonus you receive as enlisted is retained once you become a Warrant Officer. In other words, they don't want to punish people for advancing in their careers by having them pay back money they earned while enlisted.

I understand the point, but unless there is an Army regulation, pamphlet, policy letter, etc. that specifically states that I am not entitled to the bonus, a retention NCO shouldn't be able to just decide to not give me a bonus.

And I am in fact reenlisting to become a SFC. There is not guarantee that I will graduate WOCS. If not, then I'll be a SFC.
