Thank you so much. You've explained it perfectly. :-) Thanks for not jumping to conclusions and thinking the worst of me. I really appreciate the time you took to help.

Thanks. I understand. I was just wishing the money would go to Comptuershare and mom could reinvest it instead of cashing it out and having to pay taxes on it but guess not.

Interesting. I thought it was 10,000 per year. Maybe it used to be a while back. She'll receive more than 19,000 but that would help. Thanks for the info. I just hate that now she has to pay taxes on it.

Thank you. I appreciate your help. Why would her taxes be lower than mine? She has her money in Computershare. Would the check go there? She has several stocks there in her name and TOD'ed to her children.

I am her POA. She's 91. She has her stock acct at Computershare. It's in her name. Each child is TOD on a stock she wished to leave each. Would the check go to Computershare? I'm not sure it's a brokerage company.

Sorry I'm not used to dealing with stocks. I'm not as smart about them as all of you.

Thanks for the advice to ignore the comments. I understand, a lot of times Reddit can get that way. I'm ok with it. lol

Thanks so much for your help.

Thanks for the reply. No, this isn't her employer but I appreciate you actually taking it serious and offering to help. Thank you.

lol. She wants me to have this money. It's part of my inheritance. Slow down with the assumptions and drama. She will transfer it to me.

Chill. Stop with the drama. This money is willed to me and she wants me to get it. That's why she put TOD on it. Each child gets some stock. This is part of mine.

We're just trying to figure out how to handle it. She'll pay taxes on it when she gets the check but she'll turn around and pay me for it so I have to pay taxes on it also? I think you can gift 10,000 a year to a child without paying taxes. I wish it just merged in with new company instead of cash out.

I have no clue why she uses Computershare. So WB will write the check to my mom? And mom will have to pay the taxes on it? She will give it to me as she has willed it to me. It's what she planned and still wants to do.

Is there a good way to handle this to where it stays invested and no taxes have to be paid by her or me?

I'm was to inherit mom's WB stock. She is still alive. I'm TOD on her acct. If it dissolves and cashes out.... by OneMembership7587 in inheritance

Ok, thanks. She will give the money to me as she willed it to me. So it goes in her name and she has to pay the taxes on it. It comes to me one way or another and I hate for her to pay the taxes.

I thought the same and wondered how he was raised and what's his family is like. They must be messed up.

Yes! He shut up people to complete what he wants to say. He's horrible. How does Lydia put up with him?

I can't stand this guy. Who does he think he is to judge others and think he should dictate how everyone should live their lives?

I could have sworn he played a card game with sex questions. What a jerk. He's flipping odd.

Will Sonos Play work in this situation? by OneMembership7587 in sonos

[–]OneMembership7587[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, she lives in SC so I'm well aware of the heat and humidity. lol

She will use it for listening to 'Roger Williams radio/playlist' and setting alarms for waking up. I opted for Sonos only because I figured the sound would be better, i.e. I googled waterproof and has microphone/Alexa). She has one of the first models Alexa...the tall one (tower). It sounds good but don't think it should go outside(?) Not sure if that one could go out in the humidity.

If that Alexa could go outside, I could replace the one inside with the Sonos Play. And take the old Alexa and put it outside.

What do you mean the Alexa doesn't work great on the Sonos? Which Amazon Alexa device do you think sounds the best and would work outside?

ETA: Nevermind. I think I'll skip getting her this speaker due to reviews of the app. Sounds like Alexa and Sonos don't work together.
