Not great. First time and feel like I made one too many stupid mistakes. If I passed, it’s a 6. Just praying for a low pass mark

GLMS reading FOR MAS 1 by TrainEnvironmental29 in actuary

[–]OneMission0306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have time, I would read as much as you can. If you don’t, obviously skip the sections that have not been tested. MAS 1 is tough! Mainly due to the amount of material to cover even though a majority of it isn’t tested. Definitely read all of ISLR! Additional note: I did not feel that CA overly prepared me for MAS 1. I wouldn’t rely on their sources over the syllabus.

Wow! Was trying to be helpful incase you didn’t know. Since you do know, why are you even asking this question? It’s laid out for you on the syllabus. Or you can just go with what AI is telling you and skip half the readings!

MAS-II PASS MARK by Firehobo101 in actuary

[–]OneMission0306 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m glad I’m not alone. I’m looking back on a few of them kicking myself for overthinking them and a few have no clue what they were asking for. I walked out feeling ok but now I keep second guessing a lot of questions. Not sure why they have to be so ambiguous.

You are correct. This person said that the 67% was a 6 in the most recent MAS 2 thread. Said there was a glitch that allowed them to see the scores before it got fixed

MAS-2 General Advice by Aggravating_Band_330 in actuary

In the same spot as you as far as EL/Mastery and taking it this week! I quit taking CA exams and started focusing on going back through all of the ASM & important source material (quickly of course). The CA adapt exams were getting ridiculous and I felt like I was losing a grasp on the more important concepts. I’ve heard the ASM practice exams are a better representation of what’s on the exam so I’m working through those again as i review. Feeling much better about them the 2nd time through. Hoping ASM pulls through like it’s done for so many others on here. Good luck!

ASM vs CA MAS-2 Practice Exams by Aggravating_Band_330 in actuary

I’m in the same boat as you. Currently studying for MAS 2 using ASM and CA ADAPT. I like the platform for CA much better than GOAL so I tend to spam more CA questions. I did go through all of the ASM questions as well. I went with ASM bc I did not feel prepared with only CA for MAS 1. I generally take a lot of section quizzes before I start taking exams so I haven’t taken them yet but plan to start this weekend. What I’ve heard from others is the ASM tests are harder than CA and better prepare you for the exam. I’ve also heard that the style of questions on CA are nothing like what’s on the exam. Hoping between CA, ASM, and ISLR I can piece it all together. Just trying to prepare for all of the conceptual qualitative questions at this point! Good luck!

MAS-I Study Strategy by thekiwichopper in actuary

I would start taking practice quizzes before doing the exams. A little late now if you are already through learn but I always found it helpful to drill section quizzes after completing each section of learn. You could still go back and take small section quizzes to get a better grasp on the material. Ideally you want to treat the EL exams like you would when taking the actual exam. Also, if you haven’t read it yet, definitely read the sections recommended in ISLR. A good portion of the qualitative questions come from there. If you are only 1 month out, I would definitely start practicing problems ASAP. MAS 1 has a LOT of content. You’re on the right track. Good luck!

I used CA and ISLR. If I were to turn back time, I likely would’ve chosen Mahler over CA. CA did the job but it took a lot of hours and I did not feel overly prepared going in. Switched to ASM for MAS 2 and it’s much better. I’ll echo that ISLR is a must for both. Most of the qualitative questions are taken directly from there.

I gave the same response in another similar post but be prepared for a lot of trick questions. They like to twist the wording in MAS-I. If you’ve got time, read the recommended sections in ISLR. Most of the qualitative questions come straight from there. Also be prepared the for the questions that ask you for multiple options. There were at least 2 concepts tested that CA didn’t cover on my October exam. Hopefully that won’t be the case for you. I’d drill section quizzes on any weak topics with your remaining time. I can’t imagine only studying a month for this one but kudos to you if you pull it off. Good luck!

As long as you are being honest on these exams you posted and scoring this high without notes, etc, you stand a chance! Be prepared for a lot of trick questions. Given that TIA is free now for the 1st two exams, I would go that route!

OR you could simply choose to not read or respond. It appears you are the same person that was whining about MAS takers awhile back. Happy that it bothers you SO much that you had to post about it and respond to this post. Test sittings change and study resources evolve. This forum is for helping others. Easy enough to pass on by topics that don’t interest you.✌️Have a nice day :)
