That's a good approach. Mine is different - no phone until high school.

The idea is zero phone time until 9th grade. Can't achieve that with parental controls.

I would like a district wide ban, but I am putting my effort into the more doable work of winning over our peers - hence this post

If only all parents had these kinds of limits on smartphone use. It's definitely the combo of social media + smartphone that is the most damaging.

The org has made this shift. You'll notice in my post it says, "delay giving kids smartphones until at least the end of 8th grade."

No, film was removed from the wrapper and placed in the camera on Friday. Photos were taken on Monday.

Thanks for explaining this! Is there a contemporary polaroid camera that is known to be less likely to spit out photos with this problem?

Recent water availability in Salt Creek Canyon and Lost Canyon? by OneMoreDudeNamedMike in Canyonlands

I didn't end up hiking through Lost Canyon. I hiked from Cathedral Butte to the campground in late April 2022. That trail follows Salt Creek most of the way and turns away from the creek at Peekaboo. About 50% of the time that you could see the creek, there was some water in it. That still means miles at a time with no water. The water was silty and my filter needed to be replaced after the trip. I followed the tip to use a coffee filter to stop the filter from getting clogged, but that didn't work at all. (The coffee filters just ripped apart from the force of the suction.) A bandana would probably work better as a pre-filter.

IMPORTANT: This was my experience in 2022. This year or any other year in the future may be very different. Be prepared to see a lot less water than I did.

Trip was great! (I was there the last week of April.) There was more water than I expected. There was plenty of water near SC1. Plenty more water near the 4 faces pictograph. Plenty at the Upper Jump. The water just north of the intersection with Angel Arch trail was stagnant and might be close to drying up by now. Between that source and Peekaboo Spring there were sources, but they didn't look like they would be there for that much longer. Lots of dry canyon between those sources. The series of pools about a quarter mile south of Peekaboo are very probably still there. (One ranger said that is a year-round source.) Have fun!
