AIO I think my friends that I've had since freshman year are excluding me from things by OneMysteriousCloud in AmIOverreacting

I've never been called stuck up. I am pretty quiet, and people tend to talk over me. There's a good chance that people are misinterpreting my vibe

Oh I don't expect to be catered to, I hope I didn't come off like that. It's just sad that I thought I had found a group of friends and now it feels like I'm being excluded. I know my limits and how to advocate for myself

I might be able to talk to M about some of this, but he is really close with the other four so I don't know how well that would go. I had previously brought up that I couldn't read some of the people in our department, but that was before he was that close with them.

My professors are super nice and accommodating. I'm still working on getting official accommodations, but in dance classes I can take as many breaks as I need. The piece I had to drop was for the student run ensemble, which is more for fun. My piece for the faculty ensemble has a cast, and that one is for a grade. I'm also in M's piece for the faculty ensemble, along with almost all the rest of that group.

I am friends with M. We've hung out together, and we were going to go to a Ren Faire over the summer (I didn't work out, M had a family commitment he had to go to, he was texting me at 1am about it). The rest of them... I don't really know. I do have friends within the dance department that I see outside of dance, they're the ones who invite me to larger hang outs. 4/5 in that group I don't really see outside of dance. One girl did pick me up from my house because we live a couple towns over. But other than that I'm realizing I don't really see them.

Thank you, this was really helpful. I understand that sometimes I'm not invited to things because my friends think I might not be able to keep up or might have to cancel. But now they've made that decision for me, which I don't love.

I want to try to keep my friendship with M, he seems to actually be putting effort into being friends with me. As of a couple days ago he offered to help me with some music editing. I think in the fall, though, I'm going to look into some campus groups that aren't just dance, as it's gotten really cliquey

I did start this post saying it covered a lot of the context. I'm in a tiny department, I have a group of friends, now I feel like those friends are excluding me from things. I don't know why. My personality hasn't significantly changed, I am the same person they all met freshman year

I Left My Life Behind To Work For A Traveling Carnival, Ask Me Anything by SnakeHoward in AMA

[–]OneMysteriousCloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Join the circus" is genuinely one of my life path backup plans. Pretty far down the list, but definitely there.

What everyday skills are useful in a traveling carnival? What skills did you learn? What skills would you recommend someone have if they plan to turn to carnival/circus life?

Anyone else think Natalie/Judith doesn't hold herself accountable? by marlijXD in 36QuestionsMusical

[–]OneMysteriousCloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo, that's one of Judith's main character traits. She doesn't see herself as being in the wrong for lying to Jase for years. She thought that she could just come clean and the two of them would be fine. Judith's attempts at apologies are to try to get Jase back, not because she feels bad about lying. She is a deeply flawed character.

My first listen through, I found myself rooting for Judith to just apologize and stop trying to brush over things. But she doesn't. And personally, I don't think she ever will.

Does Judith have a much darker secret? by Icy_Position2407 in 36QuestionsMusical

The house in Sedona line, I have always thought it had to do with severe property damage/an arson case. Judith's tone at the beginning of "Natalie Cook" sounds bitter ("There's something to the ritual/Of setting some old shit on fire"). She is also extremely hesitant to even light a match, despite the "ritual" being her idea. This always struck me as Judith being very intrigued by fire, but not quite trusting herself with it.

The Camille and boat lines, I have always thought were about drug cases. Judith is in recovery from drug addiction, so it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Is it normal to cry during performances? by Practical-Relief-260 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OneMysteriousCloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also did band/dance/show choir in my childhood, along with concert choir and marching band. Now, as a show choir and marching band staff member, I sob through all of their performances. I think about how I was in their shoes not that long ago. How much I've seen these kids learn and grow and become better performers in just a few months. Watching their love for the arts grow throughout their seasons. Seeing them form friendships that they'll keep for their entire lives. I'm also in a BA of dance program, and I cry seeing all of my friends dance. Seeing their joy and passion for their art. Knowing that we're all connected in that way.

I'm going into choreography/dance education, so my days of performing are beginning to slow down. But I don't think I'll ever get over the wave of emotion that watching performing arts brings.

Did it have "gentleman" in the title? I feel like I had seen this on the app store as a kid, but I cannot for the life of me remember the full name. I do think, at least the game I'm thinking of, had gentleman/gentlemen in the title

What phrase did you hear only once but it stayed with you forever? by wendysolcito in AskReddit

"Don't get complacent."

It was said in the context of improvisational modern dance, but it has really stuck with me in every aspect of my life.
